I have been working for MBM in Montgomery Alabama for about 4 years now. Its been about what you can expect from most foodservice companies: (great pay, hard work, good home time). I have met a lot lot of drivers from the Macon Ga facility and they all appear happy. They only service Chic-fil-a from Macon and they get Sundays off every week. Chic-fil-a is closed on Sunday. I'll be transferring to the new MBM/Darden Facility in Newnan Ga next week. Newnan will service only Darden restaurants.(red lobster, olive garden, long horn, and bahama breeze). Newnan will also be all liftgate deliveries making unloading a lot easier. the pay will still be around 70k.

I hate to say it but a gps is hard to beat when it comes to finding places as long as you use common sense. I run ltl and dont know how id get around unfamiliar areas without my gps. The good thing is youll have less stops per day, where I can have upwards of 20 stops per day and mapping them out or calling for directions is just stupid silly time wise when the technology is there and affordable. Most food is going to be in a relatively easy location to pick out.

I have worked in the Columbus DC for 8 years: selecting and recieving NOT driving truck. When things go good everyone is happy, like most places, but we do get very busy at times, and when people leave or don't show up we usually don't have replacements for that. MBM tires to keep most of the people happy, yet our buisness needs wear everyone down. Many have said it unloading these trucks is NOT FOR EVERYONE but the truckers really make some money. Most of the warehouse makes some money through the overtime when we are busy. I will say even with the bad economy WE STAY BUSY almost all year. I do get frustrated with the warehouse people when they slap a load together and the end result all fall to me, but we try to work things out together and YES they do try to work things out, not always to my liking. We are upgrading our equipment and trucks as of 2011. We are also opening a new (south Columbus) Obetz/Lockbourne dc ASAP and need drivers and warehouse personel. If you are willing to work for the money then you got a job. If you are one of those you owe me people, expecting an easy gig you need not apply.:biggrin_25511:

Black, I drive for MBM out of the Newnan Ga DC. Most routes are 1 or two day routes and most of the unloading is by electric pallet jack and lift gate. The pay is broken down into components:
.43 cents per mile if your trip is under 300 miles.
.40 cents per mile for more than 300 miles.
    .16 cents per case
    3 dollars per stop.
u usually leave the dc with anywhere from 1200 to 1500 cases on the trailer.

Radman is right. Foodservice is easier than beverage. Especially at the Newnan MBM. As I said All we do is use the liftgate and electric palletjack to lower the entire pallet down to ground and roll it to the customers back door. We deliver to Red lobster, Olive Garden, Longhorn, Bahama breeze etc.
