If you have worked for GreatWide can you please tell me some things about them. I am looking to do the Great Start Program :)biggrin_25512:$2,000 down) I have taken at least a week to try and find out as much as I can about them. I know they pull for a lot of very large companies like Walmart, Target, AWG, ect.
    ANY INFO WILL HELP....

I am interested as well if anyone has anything to say. Unfortunately, there isn't much on these forums relating to Greatwide, not even a section on them.

    LadyDallasDriver Thanks this.

No maybe its cause there still new...I think they bought other companies out but not sure who. I see these guys running on 35e all the time in the evenings and to be honest there trucks look like they have seen better days (which kinda concerns me) Maybe we will get some replies back....:biggrin_25520:

I see them all over DFW all the time. I know they pull for AWG out of Ft. Worth as well as Wal-Mart/Sam's.

I think the 'look' of their truck is individualistic. I've seen some that looked great, but others that looked horrible. But I see that all the time, some O/O's take care of their stuff others don't.

I have a buddy who is leased on with GW or Dallas Mavis. There are several different groups. He pulls their 48' flat. His own Columbia. So far he has been pretty satisfied. The trailer is pretty ragged , but there is no monthly charge. They will give him 50% up front all loads if needed and have been paying like clockwork. Now this could all change overnight with any of these guys. Don't know about their lease at all. They keep him pretty much in 4 state area as that is all he wants. They have offered him a lot of runs to the NW for power only, but then he would have to bobtail 2000+ miles back. Hope this helps a little.

I don't know anything about the program your asking about. They were a company I visited at GAT show in Dallas. I spoke with a Greatwide O/O for about a good hour and seemed to be happy with the company. He was not in the booths working for the company. He had his truck in the show. Greatwide has a contract with Walmart and he mainly hauls for the distribution center in Temple. All the trailers are preloaded and when he arrives at the stores. They are required to unload them within 30mins after arriving. If I remember correctly, he was making $1.50 mile loaded or empty. After his costs, he was still clearing a grand. He showed me his pay statements and seem to be upfront about everything. Most of his runs, he dead headed back to Temple. He stayed instate so he ran intrastate and was home every weekend. If I go back out on the road. He will be the one I'm calling up first.
I forgot to add, his truck is a 04 KW T600 and just paid it off a month before the show. He must be doing something right to have it paid off already.

Thank you for the reply. I am going to apply Monday So I hope all goes well. I do think they have one of the best lease programs around. I have spent the last month searching for a decent deal and this is the better one that I can tell. You never know till you get in there...However I have worked with the Terminal manager a little somewhere else so maybe that will help break the ice. The good thing about Greatwide is they move food so thats pretty good since America has to eat!
