We have a hose rack on the tractor . That way you know you have them if you need them . Hoses have a way of disappearing at tank washes and with some products like paint it takes longer to wash the hoses than it does the paint . Hoses disappear off tanks in drop yards too . Another reason for having hoses on the tractor is you never know when you may be called to pump off a rollover .

Drum jobs are allways fun. We used to haul paint resin to NYC, mostly Brooklyn, to a bunch of small mom and pop operations. Evidently NYC must have very strict ordinances about storing Hazmat, in this case flammable, in storage tanks, but very few rules about storing it in drums. Every paint resin load to NYC was a drum job. Park on the street, drag out about 80 ft of 2" hose, put on a drum nozzle, and then spend the rest of the day filling drums, because they had to take a twenty minute break every hour or so. Then you had to fight the traffic, go to the Newark or Cartaret NJ terminal to clean out, spend the night and reload the next day. Those were really fun times...:biggrin_25519:

This is crazy. My boss is trying to say it's hard to do bulk and all this and he's never even done it. He said the hose will be too heavy and hooking it up and pumping the load will be hard. I'm not really liking Schneider anymore. I lost all respect for them. After all the posts I've read on here I can't say Schneider is any worse than the rest, but they suck.

Dragging the hoses is no problem, I know several female drivers that pull tankers and never heard them complain about the hoses. The complaint I do hear from drivers is about climbing up and down the ladder, but most of the complaints come from drivers that were very overweight.

If you do decide on tankers, always double check the valves and dome lid or vent valve before you start pumping.

I love pulling tankers and definitely don't miss grocery warehouses.

First of all, you are not a girl. Your are a truckdriver. A lady truckdriver at that. Tankers are the cleanest and easiest loads to be found. I don't work for schneider and never would. You need to find a job that pays hourly so you are paid for all of your time. People talk about the messy oil fields. They are right. They are messy. But if you are paid well, the mess disappears quickly. I have never done oil field work but have read about on here.

Just learn to be careful around turns and your stopping distance. I would never go back to hauling freight. Waiting to load or unload without being paid or having to give the company time while doing that is just plain wrong.

Look around and find the tanker company that fits your needs. Yes, you will have to wear suits. They are there to protect you so wear them. I wear them as well but get into the cab (A/C) when it gets to hot.

I hope you find the right company and disregard the negative posts.

There were two female drivers working out of my terminal when I was doing tanker and they never had any problem with the hoses, and I trained one of them on liquid. I think your boss is just a Richard Noggin:biggrin_25519:

For me gasoline is the only load I'd do now. It's the cleanest and most professional job I've ever seen and the benefits and pay are at the top. But that's with the bigger companies but it's something to work for.

You'll use 2" , 2 1/2" and 3" inch hoses 20' long . They aren't that bad to handle . They should be empty when you have to handle them . Air unloading cleans them out pretty good . You'll have to walk the hose out using a pump on heavier products and heavy products like paint will leave some product in the hose , making it heavier .
