I applied at a company and recieved a usis report in the mail, it came back aok how long do they go back on their backround searches. the reason I am asking is over 15yrs ago I made a mistake but it was set aside.Another company I spoke to said they use usis and it was a lifetime check, does usis have different lenghts of backround checks or are they all the same standard? I don't want to make a commitment and get there just to be sent home. Thanks!

I believe its either 7 or 10 years. Now felonies and serious criminal driving(dwi), never go away but I could be wrong. Texas for instances, a dwi does not go away. You can pull a long form of your mvr and it will be there. It could have been 20yrs ago.

Do you think they were using scare tactics when they said lifetime check? I thought it went back ten years.

Its possible. The best way to find out is to pull your USIS report. Its a consumer report and its free once a year for the consumer.Write to them and request it. I have included the website with the information you need. Hope this helps you.........

Sorry, you did mention it in your first post. I'm cooking dinner and chatting at the same time. If your USIS report is clean, you should be ok. BUT if there is something out there like I mentioned (dwi), you failed to tell them and they find out a few months after your hired. They will fire you and put it on your USIS.
