I really don't know how they treat their lease purchase drivers. I personally wouldn't ever buy a truck from the people I was working for, but thats me. If they have you in a lease program, then they have you over a barrel. They can let you sit, or give you crappy runs and you are stuck. If you leave the truck you are ruining your own credit score, so you pretty much stay. Plus, they buy the cheapest trucks in the world, and thats what you get as a L/P. They are plain-jane to the extreme. The only good thing about them is the fact that they have APU's on all company and lease trucks.

As far as O/O goes, I've not talked to a lot of their operators, but the ones I have seemed to be pretty happy. I really don't know much about that side, either.

Sorry, hope this helped some. Your best bet would be to talk to a recruiter, but who knows if they'll be telling the truth or not. I like Henderson, and I think they are a good company to work for, but I'd still be cautious with what the recruiter says. It might be they are lying, but I think its more typical the recruiter doesn't have the slightest idea what they are talking about. This goes for every company though...

:yes2557:I HAVE BEEN AT HENDERSON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW. I LEASE WITH THEM AND THE MILES OVERALL ARE DESCENT. BUT I WILL TELL YOU I HAVE TO STAY ON TOP OF THEM TO KEEP ME RUNNING. WHAT BOTHERED ME THE MOST WAS WHEN FREIGHT WAS REALLY SLOW AND THEY COULD NOT KEEP THEIR CURRENT DRIVERS MOVING THEY WERE STILL RUNNING GUYS THROUGH ORIENTATION. THAT REALLY IRRITATED ME. TO BE SUCH A SMALL COMPANY ALOT OF PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE HAVE THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND. KEEP AN EYE ON MIKE T AKA BERNIE MADOFF. HE IS THE GUY WHO KEEPS ALL THE ESCROW , SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE ACCTS FOR THE DRIVERS. THE PROBLEM IS EVERYTIME YOU CALL HIM TO GET YOUR BALANCE HE NEVER HAS IT OR HE IS WORKING ON IT. FOR THE LIFE OF ME TELL ME WHY THIS IS NOT AUTOMATED. THE WORST PLACES TO GET LOADS FOR THIS COMPANY IS THE EAST ST LOUIS AREA, AND ILLINOIS THEY SEEM TO ALWAYS HAVE A BACKLOG OF TRUCKS THERE. THEY LIKE TO HIRE TEAMS TO COVER SOME NEW CUSTOMERS AND HOT PRODUCE FREIGHT OUT OF CALIFORNIA. BUT OTHER THAN THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ALOT OF TEAM FREIGHT AND IF THE PRODUCE LOADED ON TIME OR THE DELIVERY APPT WAS ADJUSTED A GOOD SOLO DRIVER COULD MAKE IT.

Funny thing is, when I was hired, their lot was empty: now, they've always got about 30-40 tractors sitting there, waiting for new drivers - they're cranking people in & out that fast!

2 weeks after I was hired, they put out the message that they needed teams to run to California: after they couldn't get volunteers, they began forcing company drivers to team up! There went my miles.

The last week I was out with them, I was bounced between the St. Louis area, and Chicago, after having done a reset at the yard (while bringing up a load from Georgia). after having delivered the Georgia load west of St. Louis, I did another reset, then was bounced between there & Chicago for a couple of days, then sent to Iowa where I did yet ANOTHER reset!!!

    Really - 3 resets in a week!

I do feel that they're negligent in how they've treated me (and others), in that I'm not seeing any paychecks, and their attitude is that they don't really care, and I also feel that they misrepresented themselves, but then again, I'm not a lawyer.

I agree with you on Mike...he's the one I talked to about deferring my truck payment for this past week, and he didn't really seem interested in being bothered with it.

Then there's Lee, who doesn't know how to deal with people on the phone (well, for the most part, most of the people there have no basic communication skills), and so he sends out multiple fleet messages begging everybody to NOT call him unless its an emergency!!!

The really sad part - they used to be a VERY reputable company: now, they're a joke.

    Toybox,

I am one of their lease operators (well, I guess you can say "was" now): they treated me like crap! I know a o/o that signed on with them, and while they did hand her a 700-mile week on one occasion, they've otherwise been pretty good to her, and she's one of those solo drivers that always seems to get out west (she lives near Effingham!), that they say never get out west.

I know several lease operators that had to team up with somebody, in order to make ends meet.

Then again, I know others that are doing just fine, but then again, they've been there forever.

In their safety office, they have a plaque with the names of the people that completed their lease/purchase plan, and there's ONLY 1 name on it! That should have warned me.

As I said before - I totally checked out this company before going to work with them, and I couldn't find a single solitary bad word about them anywhere...but oh - the stories I've heard while in the yard! One lease operator I talked to, said he'd been there for 7 months: there was a 6-week period in which he never saw a paycheck! I told him he had rocks in his head: if they even tried that with me, they'd never see me again - and here I am.

If they find out I'm here, and who I am, & try to sue me for libel, hey - I have the pay stubs to prove what I'm saying! A court can order them to hand over their QualComm servers, and they can find all the messages I've sent, begging for miles, only to have my requests fall on un-concerned ears.

Hey I know what you mean I just cannot figure out there business plan cause I have heard the stories about the lack of miles for drivers but mostly I have heard the company drivers were really suffering. As for liars all the dispatchers lie alot there but I have to admit Lee is one of the worst according to drivers. They always want you to get your service done at the yard well for 1 they are more expensive than going to an authorized service center 2 getting it done at the yard puts you in a slow freight area with alot of Henderson trucks. Denver is also a bad place to go to cause they have so much Safeway and Wal Mart freight going in and not enough coming out. From what I heard they fired alot of the load planners and that is where they used to put the blame on. So how long have you been with them now?

    Texasbound,
I've been there just over 3 months, and I've had it with them! No more than 1800 miles a week - just enough to cover truck expenses. Funny...I've done a few WalMart load into Denver, and never had a problem getting out - they usually send me to Coors, or Busch. I think it may be more like the planners quit, from what I see there, and the new ones keep their heads up their ###es for the warmth.

:biggrin_25515:You may be right about the planners. I only know what they tell me or what i hear. From what I see it is a 50/50 chance on getting out of Denver cause they run about 8 to 10 loads a day in there for Safeway and Wal Mart. For a few weeks if you were mty in Denver on Friday you were getting to deadhead to California to pickup produce. Thats right 8 to 10 trucks every wknd were getting that free pass to the West. When I started there all I ever heard about was this dispatcher named Gail and how he was the best well now I guess he is the supervisor of all the dms so he will occasionally answer my dms computer and try to get smart well i just give it right back to him. They don't like to answer the phones but they also take forever to qualcomm you back. I really like how payroll which consists of 4 people llike to take off early for holidays which means if your load delivers that Friday am you were screwed the next week. :biggrin_2555:
