CURRENT Knight drivers please respond

HI:

Been talking to Knight Denver Division for several weeks. The recruiter up there keeps insisting that I get an "incident" removed from my DAC before she will even take my app any further.

She claims that company policy disallows anyone with three or more accidents/incidents on their DAC regardless of how old they are.

Today, I got an EMail from the Director of Driver Development claiming that is NOT their policy. This is an C/P from his email:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

We require our drivers (and potential drivers) to have no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years and no more than one preventable accident in the past 3 years. No more than two preventable incidents or a combination of one preventable accident and one preventable incident in the past 3 years. Until you meet this minimum criteria we can not consider you for employment with Knight Transportation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am well with these guidelines, they are currently hiring out of Denver, yet the Denver recruiter continues to "blow me off". As far as I know, she has not checked my MVR, nor any of my previous employers. What's going on??? Anybody????

Boo

BooBear, you need to take into consideration that with the way our economy is every single company is able to be picky as to who they hire, in fact, a large number of companies have put a " freeze " on hiring new drivers. even swift n werner are being picky as to who they hire right now
you may have something on your record that they dont like, and it could be anything, and the next guy may not have anything but dust on his record, and sadly just the way things are going right now they may choose him before they choose you right now. its not just knight thats doing this, its pretty much every one,
you need to " shop around " and look at some other companies. you dont need to look for a company that in your home area/state. if you really want to truck, you may just need to expand your horizon and check out companies from all around the country, and hopefully we will see a turn around in our economy.
best of luck to you.

S2B is right.

You think it's bad now. Just wait till we start seeing all the newbs, whining about companies asking for 3 or 5 years experience.

Right now companies are going for the cleanest record they can find, within reason. They are also taking the lowest "time in" drivers. In hopes of keeping payroll down.

Sooner or later, these 2 are going to run headlong into each other. And having no other way to trim cost. They will comply with insurance request for more experienced drivers with the fewest incidents (zero if possible), to provide for lower premiums.

It happened in the 80's & 90's. It'll happen again.

There is no doubt that what both you guys have said is true. Luckily for me I do not HAVE to work. However, I wouldn't mind driving another year before I FULLY retire.

I fully support any company's right to hire (and fire) anyone they want, so long as they do so ethically and within the law. My issue with Knight is that the girl in Denver may not even know HOW to do her job correctly. I would hate to be rejected for a reason such as that.

The only thing she has told me is that I have too many accidents/incidents on my DAC. That is not a satisfactory answer, when her boss says she's wrong. Of course her boss doesn't want to get "involved".

BTW, it's my understanding from reading FMCSR rules as well as FCRA regulations, that if they reject you because they don't like your DAC, they have to send a letter to you so stating along with the copy of the DAC they used to make their non-hiring decision. 'Course getting them to FOLLOW the rules and regs is a whole 'nother story.

In short, I just want a truthful answer, nothing more. If I'm too old, so be it. If I'm short on experience, so be it. But if for some reason she just doesn't want to bother with me, then I'm sorta unhappy.

I know the previous recruiter at Denver left rather suddenly within the last year, and I heard a RUMOR that she was fired for poor performance.

Finally, are either of you current Knight dirvers??

Thank

Boo

And with the probability of more companies closing their doors in the next few months, the marketplace will be flooded with drivers looking for work. Best to get in where you can for now and ride out the storm or do something else until the market turns around. The forecast on that is the fourth quarter of this year at the earliest.

Boo
, Call Knight Refrigerated in Idaho Falls. Thats who I work far. Knight Trans has very little freight and there drivers are sitting 3-5 days waiting to take a 300 mile run and then sit some more. I hear about it every time I hit one of there terms. With Knight Refrigerated you can run the 11 western and be home in Denver 2-3 times a week. You will do alot of beer but who cares. It moves. call. Idaho Falls is the refer term for that area. They will pay to bring you up there to orentation. Give you a truck from there. maybe even a brand new one thats what I got. And then send you home asap to get your stuff.

There is no freight.

I've been sitting for days now along with 22 or so other drivers.
