Companies with a current hiring freeze.

Add any that you know and whether it's a regional freeze and what region, or if they're not even hiring OTR. Also add if it's a freeze on student hires, or experienced.

Here's what I've found so far.

BTC - Southeast regional and OTR, living in the SE for experienced drivers and students.
Cressler - OTR (no regional division) for experienced drivers (they never hire students).
Maverick - Southeast regional and OTR for experienced drivers and students, until at least 2/1/09.
Schneider - Southeast regional and OTR living in the SE for experienced drivers and students.

Owens Kennedy, out of Pelzer, SC, a heavy haul and OD carrier has a complete freeze on new hires, until at least 2/15.

Transport America is supposedly having a hiring freeze unless you have a good deal of experience and trying to weed out some of the newer people (less experience and or more mistakes as a new person). Of course, it's hard to say. They seem confused on what they're doing a lot of the time.

CT Transportation just returned my call. They are now in a hiring freeze, until the second week in February, when they will review things.

Lonestar has changed their hiring policy. It was 3 years OTR, with 1 year of that being flatbed. They now also require at least 6 months of recent OS experience, but they are hiring on a limited basis. They say they will drop this requirement again, once things pick up and their turnover rate goes back to normal. They've dropped to less than 10% now.
