Help 2 J.B. HUNT - Lowell, Ar.?

My husband was a local driver for a few years and is looking to go over the road. Is J B hunt a good company to go with? We were thinking about them because they had better insurance than Schneider.

Anyone have any experience with JB HUnt?

JB Hunt is a nightmare for drivers. Look over the posts made for them on this forum...

Schneider at it's worst is better then JB and your husband will get better miles with Schneider...

Please stay away from JB Hunt! They promise the world and go back on their word every chance they get. Good luck getting miles with them. Hubby was a company driver with them then after falling for their line of BS decided to go into a lease purchase program with them. Bad move. We are now in a financial hole because he only averaged 1900 miles a week meanwhile he still had truck payments, deisel, among other expenses which resulted in very little paychecks and even no paychecks on a couple of occasions. Many other companies have decent insurance but remember you also have to be able to pay bills. JB Hunt is not the way to go. Just read other posts under Bad Companies.

Local driver for what sort of company?

As in regional? all 48? Or linehaul with an LTL? The linehaul job would be the best paying.

He picked up waste tires at walmarts in several neighboring states. He was home every night.

I'm not sure what sort of over-the-road he was looking for. I think he wanted home every weekend. I don't know what linehaul is?

What companies would you recommend?

My hubby just signed with Roehl but they seem promising. But they require the driver to be out at least two weeks and then be home but I don't think they can guarentee weekends.

When you are OTR it is a good idea to stay out at least two weeks beacause it will enable you or the driver to get into a loop and turn the mile.

The only exception is if you are on a dedicated account that affords weekends off...

That's not what I would describe as local work. More like regional.

You can work regional and be home every weekend.

Linehaul is the between-the-terminal movements by LTL co's

The LTL co's are gonna pay the most money, such as Yellow, Roadway, Overnite, R&L, and Fedex Freight to name a few.

J.B. HUNT - Lowell, Ar.?

With all I've read about JB HUNT on this site, I have a thought. It seems like at one time they were a company that relied on school mill drivers to drive their trucks. Then they did away with that. And now it seems they cant easily get drivers who want to work for them. Are they going to go back to using inexperienced drivers to fill their seats in the future?
