I've heard they are run by Seventh-Day-Adventists, so they try to get you home on weekends.

    Curious as well....

Also, are most of your stops (drops) with alot of the same customers, or is it random? I know they run home improvement stores and smaller hardware companies a lot. Thanks for any recent info you guys can give us. :biggrin_25515:

How often are you up / down 75...all the time?

While I am still in School (for the 2nd time in my life) I thought I would this time go-around, do all that I can to try & find out about company that I was interested in, "BEFORE" I waste time, money & energy, or worse yet, get taken for a ride.

While McElroy is a primary company I'm looking into, there are a few others, like Panther & TMC.

Here is what I'm trying to find out. If you wish to add further info, (Good or Bad) please, by all means, do so as this will assist me in my final decision come time for graduation.

    1. Are they a good company to work for?
    2. Do they really stand by their claim of making sure their drivers get home every week end
    3. What is their pay-scale like? (Starting out - anual raises, bonuses, etc.
    4. Do they pay for all of their tolls, repairs etc or do they expect their drivers to pay for any of it & they reimburse the drivers later?
    5. What sort of benefits do they have? (401K, stock options, Major Medical, dental, vision, etc) (Vacation Time)
    6. Do they have a rider's program?
    7. Do they use a qualcom system or the equiv?
    8. What kind of equipment to they operate?
    9. How well do they maintain their equipment?
    10. Do they place new drivers out of school into dedicated runs?
    11. Do all of their loads have to be tarped? If so, what percentage?
    12. With them claiming to be a christian based company, do they really try to follow DOT Regulations, or just those that meet their needs?
    13. How often have they been in trouble with DOT, OSHA, etc?
These are just a few questions I look for answers too when considering any company.

I Look forward to any and all insight.

Just completed SAGE Trucking School in Yadkinville, NC and take my DOT road test on Thursday. One of my fellow students got a pre-hire from McE but they didn't have any available trainers for a couple of weeks, so he's on hold until then. After reading the positive comments here about McE, I'm considering them as well. Can any McE drivers tell me what the miles will be like once the winter season comes around.

So...is Mcelroy waiting for trainers or not hiring right now ?? Ive been told both by the recruiters. Can someone help to verify what the truth is ? Ive got a month before my house goes into foreclosure and I cant wait for them if they arent gonna be really hiring drivers.

A genuine thank you to anyone who can help ...
