Waitress Gets $10,000 Tip as Gift to Attend College

Waitress Gets $10,000 Tip as Gift to Attend College
7/14/07
Quote:
ANGOLA, Ind. — The dessert at one Indiana restaurant may be rich, but not compared to its server, it turns out.
An Indiana Pizza Hut waitress with dreams of college received a much-needed boost in arriving at that goal: a $10,000 tip.
Jessica Osborne was so overcome by the gift she cried so hard she could barely breathe. When she told a co-worker what had happened she called her a liar.
"I got that a lot," Osborne said.
The money came from a mother and her two sons who wish to remain anonymous. The three were regular customers at the Pizza Hut in Angola and she remembered their order: two Mountain Dews, a cup of hot water for a bag of tea the woman brought in and a large Meat Lover's Stuffed Crust pizza, half without pepperoni and half with mushrooms and black olives.
The family usually came in once a week, sometimes more. Each time they would ask for Osborne to be their server, then chat about their lives when she had the chance to talk.

I love happy stories like this one. But I sure wish that I would have encountered someone like that when I was struggling to put myself through college.

No kidding, huh? Heck, when I was living on the streets as a kid, all I got was a good, swift kick in the nads and spit on, LOL. On the bright side of it, at least I got some "water" out of the deal. ROTF.

Haha I know how that goes! I had no where else to turn so I joined the military. Best move I ever made since everyone that I was running with at the time are now either in prison or are total crack and meth addicts.
Even today I don't have alot of avenues to look for, I have my best friend, my girl (which she is also my best friend and to that I am truely blessed) and my father. But hey, I've done good for myself I would think. I'm 28. I have a 4 bedroom house in a great neighborhood, 2 petes, a pickup, a Z28, and a few old muscle cars.

I actually did the same thing, I went into the Army and I really got on the right track then. Good to hear you are doing well, glad to have you here! Yea, I was in boys' homes, on the streets, on wagon trains (VisionQuest), ocean schooners (OceanQuest) and all before I got into the Army. Then...I got into trucking and that was where the real hell started, LOL. Actually, at first, I LOVED it for many years...wouldn't do it again though.

I know where you're coming from. I had the family, just pissed it away at the time. Thanks for welcoming me here! Seems like a good lot of people. I've been in all lines of work in a short period of time. Trucking is the only thing thats actually made me happy. I'm not for the long haul anymore, but I still love to drive.
