Heart Broken Boy, 5, riding in lap dies in crash

Quote:
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. -- A 5-year-old boy is dead and a woman is in critical condition after their car crashed into a home Tuesday, officials said. Joni Kelley was driving with her grandson, Alexander Martinez, on her lap in a slow-speed area near the intersection of Iroquois Court and Arapaho Way when the car went into a wall of a home near a carport area at about 3:30 p.m., officials said.

WiseOne's Comments, that is sad and RIDICULOUS. WTF do you have a 5 year old sitting in your lap for while going down the road? It is a well-known no-no yet a poor kid had to die again...

I seen a lot of kids not in car seats down in Texas and in Cali... Most of them were Mexicans that had their kids just running around in the car.. I just suspected it was because they probably don't have such laws in Mexico..

I've seen plenty of that too, especially when living in Florida. I just want to make these people pull over and slap the snot out of them. We all know that kids are required to be seatbelted in, and below a certain age and weight, need to be in approved car seats. It's not that hard people!

One time a few years ago, and many years after we had the mandatory seat belt law, the following event happened.

Gas station filling my car. In drives a jeep with the soft sides and tops. In the front seat passenger side, is a woman holding an infant. There is no seat belt on her. The driver also was not buckled in.

Another closer look made the situation even more noticeable. It was a deputy in the county in uniform.

I've seen it too damn many times. Working on and around tow-yards, you see too much. I once saw a vehicle come in and when I heard the story behind it, I wanted to seriously injure the woman when she came in to pick up her personal property. As it was, I seriously chewed her out.

She went to get her kids at school, and then did not put the baby back in the carseat, as she "had to hurry", she had left dinner ON, ON THE STOVE.

The baby was thrown from her arms in the collision and died. No-one else was injured. The car wasn't even that messed up.
