Proposed fee on smelly cows, hogs angers farmers

Proposed fee on smelly cows, hogs angers farmers

Quote:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For farmers, this stinks: Belching and gaseous cows and hogs could start costing them money if a federal proposal to charge fees for air-polluting animals becomes law.
Farmers so far are turning their noses up at the notion, which is one of several put forward by the Environmental Protection Agency after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that greenhouse gases emitted by belching and flatulence amounts to air pollution.
"This is one of the most ridiculous things the federal government has tried to do," said Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, an outspoken opponent of the proposal.

I'm pretty sure they'll be after my husband, next... I bet they'll fine him everytime he has a glass of milk or a Coke. If he got a ticket for every time he farted, OMG, we'd be destitute in a matter of months! LMAO!!

I must be different.......

When I pass a farm in a car, I love the smell.

I had neighbors that were farmers and couldn't wait to crawl through the fence and smell like the animals.....lol

I agree Cybergal, I LOVED being on the farm and helping my grandparents every summer....now when I drive by a barn yard it brings back so many memories, HOWEVER hog farms do stink MORE than cow farms..LOL ......the rules or attempted rules are getting so a person cant do ANYTHING anymore without someone having their hand out.

You know, if they just locked all these politicians and bureaucrats in an air-tight room all the pollution problems would be non-existant in a short time.
