Amtrak Train Kills 2 Pedestrians In Bay Area

Amtrak Train Kills 2 Pedestrians In Bay Area

Quote:
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The same Amtrak train struck and killed two pedestrians in separate incidents in Berkeley and Oakland on Friday afternoon, an Amtrak spokesman said.

The first collision happened at about 12:20 p.m. just north of the Berkeley Amtrak station and involved train No. 535, which was heading from Sacramento to San Jose, Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said.

Cole said the train was given a new crew and, following an investigation into the crash, it continued south from the area at about 1:50 p.m.

At about 2:15 p.m., the same train struck and killed another pedestrian just south of the Oakland station, Cole said.

Same train, different crew, but I am assuming the same passengers. Two completely separate fatalities in the same day. That is really weird. Very unlucky people riding the train that day.

Unlucky passengers but really stupid pedestrians.

I still have yet to figure out just how someone can get hit by a train unless they are suicidal !!!!!! its not like it can intentionally swerve to hit ya or anything like that...

I do however feel sorry for the passengers to have to go through that 2 times on the same day !!!!!!

You must not have been around the headphones that some of these people have on.

Ummmm nope... that would make a world of a difference to end up not hearing it coming though... would just think that they would kinda feel it coming up the tracks and I know if close enough you can almost feel the vibrations for the horn.... Still just a dumb thing ta be walkin down the tracks... or not opening their eyes to look before crossing LOL

Living next to tracks for quite a while, you get used to the ground shaking and the horns.

If these people are used to walking down the tracks,(not very bright), then it is possible that they would not notice things.

Yeah that would definatly make a difference... I used to live at my G-mas when I was a kid and it was right across the street from mainline tracks... a few years ago when she couldn't live alone anymore my wife and I moved into her place and the trains drove the wifey crazy.... I couldn't even hear them.... OK so ya have a very good point about just being immune to them after a while LOL !!!!
