Thirty-year-old Beth Humphrey and 32-year-old Terence McKay, both of Hammond, say they will consult the U.S. Justice Department about filing a discrimination complaint.

Humphrey said she called Bardwell Oct. 6 to inquire about getting a marriage license signed. She says Bardwell's wife told her that Bardwell will not sign marriage licenses for interracial couples.

I'm shocked, but I probably shouldn't be as this kind of illegal nonsense goes on all the time.

I really don't understand why they are dragging their heels on firing him. He has broken a federal law that has been in place for over 40 years.

I'm going to take the high road here and assume you didn't mean that as an insult, which is how it sounded.

Some black men have long thought that the ultimate acquiring of the American Dream was to have a white, blonde haired wife. Black women were never taught that to truly attain the American Dream you have to have a white husband.

In addition black women attain college degrees at a much high rate, than black men. Consequently we tend to like equally or better educated men than ourselves. Since educated black men who don't have 'jungle fever' are in such short supply there are a large number of single black women.

Speaking as a highly educated black woman I can tell you that we don't like to settle.

Interracial marriage could be argued to be a form of genocide.

You will see some odd white urban usually atheist folks who proclaim that everyone will just mix into one race. When you look at the numbers anyone can see that is simply improbable.

Blacks are only 13% of society.

Blacks will be extinct long before the White population is altered in any meaningful way. This actually happened in Mexico during the 1800's, there was a large minority population of Blacks in Mexico...They simply disappeared into the Mexican gene pool.

One could argue that this judge is actually trying to save Black folks from being exterminated in a kinder gentler form of genocide.
