IMHO, that would be correct if you maintain a home of record in another state from which you file your tax returns and the company you work for is okay with that.

We have moved guys out to Midland/Odessa from our terminals in FL & LA to haul crude. They aren't required to change over their licenses.

Do they have housing available on site in Midland/Odessa or would you recommend bringing an RV/camper?
And is there still work available for drivers?

It's simple. If you're living in Louisiana but work in Texas as long you recieve mail at an adress in Louisiana you don't have to get a Texas licsense. I used Louisiana as an example only. It doesn't matter what state you're working in. You can work in Texas for 10 years. If you don't establish an address in Texas you're not a resident of Texas therefore you dont have to get a Texas Licsense.

According to federal tax code, even if you move to another state and have an address there, your state of residence is decided by the state you lived in before and whether you have family there or intend to return there to live. No time limit on it.

ok im not against texas or lousiana requirements but it all depends on the insurance requirements the company might have . remember you guys not all states have the same requirements. i'm tired of explain the same thing over and over . on some states no one is going to hired you if you dont have local cdl license (some stupid local insurance policies) . some states does some states dont. i like this orum because i learned things that i never knew. thank you guys for that valuable information.

Who is still looking for drivers?
Are any of these companies housing the drivers?
I have no RV and don't want to move permanently.
    Thanks
