Do any of you guys know anything about:

1- Crude oil hauling? The ends and outs of it?

    2-Lease or buy a 407/406 DOT tanker?

3-Can you find a tank and truck together for lease/purchase?

    4-Good companies to haul for?

5-Type of money you can make? (I have heard 50-60k per month)

I am an O/O and have expediter trucks and looking to expand....any info is helpful and I appreciate you my fellow O/O....:biggrin_25525:

Well I've been in the crude oil hauling business for six years now. Your income expectations are a little too high. You can expect to bring home roughly 15 to 20K a month..Then you have your breakdown expenses. believe me when you start running around on these lease roads and county roads that aren't paved you will definately break your equipment.
As far as trailers go,,you need a M-407. Crude oil buyers will not accept a 406 converted. And there is approximately a eight month wait on the 407's coming out. You can't touch one without putting atleast half down to secure one.
As far as Oklahoma and Texas Pan Handle,,business is pretty slow. Alot of our drivers are having to drive to South East Texas just to keep income flowing. Now as for the boom in ND,,I haven't been there but a few of thew O/O's I know have relocated because it just isn't paying anything up there, along with Wyoming and Utah.
Now when the drilling is going on,,yes you can make a tad bit more,,but I wouldn't bank on 50K. Remember dirt roads,,to and from location and LACT never graded holes the side of a football stadium. Then when it rains if you get stuck it's your expense to have a dozer come out and pull you. I have actually lost the money on loads due to this..When the load is paying $500 you get stuck the dozer is $200 an hour with a minimum of 2 hours.
Hope this helped and answered some of the questions you had.

Just a few of the companies out there

    1. Plains All American pipeline (recommended)
    2. High Sierra Energy (recommended)
    3. Mercuria Energy Trading (recommended they are all owner operators pulling co. trailers)
    4. Sunoco Logistics (S.E. Texas)
    5. Pacer (Uses O/O's rarely)
    6. Mission Petroleum (select few O/O's)
    7. Eastex (few O/O's depending on location S.E. Texas)
That's just a few to steer you in the right direction..

Hi RoadRanger. I too have expedite trucks with FedEx CC. I now have oil tankers that I would like to get to work in ND. Pretty slow at the moment but I feel as soon as this election is over that things will open back up.
