I can't help but laugh at these kind of posts. Reminds me of all the guys that jumped all over another poster her for taking a job in cement (if I remember right) for like $13 an hour. There is more to consider than just what you are paid per hour. In Stevens case, yeah we are a training company. As in oilfield training company. You won't find anyone learning how to drive, back, shift gears etc here. A lot of guys come here and jump for greener pastures to make that all mighty dollar.

But, what that does create is a revolving door, which is good for those who do indeed stick around. In the short time I've been here I've worked myself up the seniority ladder. Thus when it it is time to send guys home because there isn't enough work, well I'm never on that list.

In fact I've just "heard" about guys getting sent home because I'm dispatched and out of the yard before that even happens. Never even seen it for myself.

Second is housing. I've talked to several other companies that pay grossly more than I'm making now. Except housing in those areas is expensive. I lucked out and got myself a great paying gig and reasonable housing (even tho its still expensive imo). That is why I work for $18 an hour. Because working for $23 an hour down the road but paying more in housing means I just come out in the wash in terms of what I was making prior to the move.

And sure there are companies that pay for your housing. Once you see that "housing" though you'll probably want to hire a ####### exterminator before you move in. And roomates? Screw that. Not only will something eventually go missing, but after working 13-15 hours a day coming home to what my ####### roommate left is not on my top ten lists of things I want to do.

This is the easiest job I've ever had. I keep my head down, do my job, go home, and do it all over again. Is it glorious? No. Is it a grind? Hell yes. Do I make #### good money? Yes. Could I make more? Yes. But I choose to work for a "measly" wage because at the end of the day it not only gets the job done, but makes counting all that money fun at the end of the month.

To all you fellers that keep repeating that "how much that you are paid for the work that you do isn't everything", I would then ask you....
"Why don't you just quit your job altogether and go do charity work for free"?
    Reward enough.
