My question is does anyone know any thing about frac sand trucking in WI. Such as what companies, whats the pay, where are they located, what requirements do they have to get hired, that kind of stuff. Also I have very little DOT driving, I've been driving heavy equipment since 1980, and I did have a license back then but I let it go after 10 years in the military. Last August I got my CDL again and went otr for a couple of months and didnt like it so much. Now I cant even get a job at a temp agency driving truck because I dont have three years otr. The last time I looked for a job, about 25 years ago, things were alot different, you went and talked to people and banged on doors to get a job. Now its done on the computor and most places have a corperate office in a different state. I have seen here people say to go to a truck stop and talk to the drivers to find a place hiring, but the nearest one to me is a two hour drive. So what do you guys think I should do to find a job. I really dont want to go otr if I can help it. By the way I'm in west central Wi.

Well, just my opinion but you are going to have a very hard time getting hired without some real experience, and the easiest way to get that is OTR. Are they doing hydraulic fracturing in Wisconsin? I would think the only thing up there is frac sand manufacturing over around Oakville, WI, Vertex was one of the operations running that few years back, not sure who is doing it now, we got out of the sand business. Most of that is being hauled from the mine to transload facilities by end dump, and a lot of those are local farms and independents. You can join the rat race and go out to North Dakota and work for awhile, it pays good despite living conditions, have the money in a year to buy you a decent rig and strike out on your own. That's what I'd do if I was in your shoes.

I just went through Roehl RDTC in Marshfield and they have a frac sand plant in Marshfield, I saw it, it's a big place. Our trainer, a longtime Marshfield area resident told us that central Wisconsin has a lot of sand. I don't think they do the frac oil there tho, at least yet.
