Felony will keep me out of the club? Poop. I have two felonies from 15 years ago. (I made a poor choice at a difficult time in my life). I have found that most jobs including fast food is hard to keep once they do a background check. The wife and I are looking into driving as a couple. Are we wasting our:biggrin_25521: time?

I would have thought you could hire a lawyer and have your record sealed, If its sealed they cant see anything! Even the law cant look without a court order from a Judge. Would that work for him? Im going to check in to this. Because more and more people are asking this question about felons. I want to see how many years before all can be expunged also. I will post again when I find out.

It mostly depends on what state you were convicted in. Some states like MO will never expunge a felony. Also, federally a felon can never own a firearm.

Talk about Irony/ A federal law that prohibits a felon from owning a firearm/ And thats the whole purpose of the second amendment is to protect citizens from the federal Government. But what does that matter really ? Soon everyone of us will be in the same boat on that issue lol. Because the intended purpose is to disarm every last one of us. Anyway enough of that subject I hate politics. Lets talk about Truck driving. Would it make a difference if a felon owned their own truck? I mean then could they get a job? Ive already been in touch with a lawyer this morning, Im waiting to hear from them. And Chibob's right on that it varies from state to state. I think the easiest route is to have record sealed. It will not expunge anything from what I have learned so far. In other words law enforcement can see it if they need to look for instance you get in more trouble. But the general public and employers cannot. And the longer its been the better.

Would it make a difference If you owned your own truck? And had your own insurance?

Cudd does frac and coiled tubing and nitrogen. They hired mostly felons in the Kilgore branch when I worked there. I was one of the few that didn't have a felony. Kilgore isn't doing any hiring now but they may be in San Antonio or Odessa.

I need to weigh in on this- I get so fired up when people talk about felonies and such, heres the real question- WHAT WAS THE FELONY? What did he do??? Ill tell you right now that just because a guy has a felony DOES NOT mean that he did something TERRIBLE! Did any of you know that a simple theft over $250 in value will get you a felony and under that amount is a misdemeanor? I know this because I was convicted of theft and trafficking when I sold my Ex-girlfriends belongings and because I got $260 I was given the felony... Had I only received $240 I would have been given a misdemeanor. I did something out of anger and frustration and I paid for it. When that happened I was going through the hiring process for the Sheriffs Dept. Was never in trouble before than and haven't been in trouble since. I believe that if you have a situation where you make a stupid decision you should be able to have a way of explaining why you did it. Someone like me who had a spotless record before and hasn't had so much as a speeding ticket after should have a little leeway...
