If I run over my hours on my log book. What are the odds of me being caught? Are there DOt check points at the rigs? Worst case if my logbook doesn't match up. What will happen to my CDL? Is it just a fine? or will I loose it?
I'll be out next week to start my new job.
been out of the trucking game for 7 years.
Thanks

DOT presence is minimal. In two years, i've never been asked to show my logs.

ND usually chooses who to check when the set up portables and check logbooks, in the past it's been grainhaulers but with all the new oil trash showing up out that way I'd try to stay as legal as I could.

just make it look right on paper, you spend a lot of times on gravel roads at 25mph or less load unload time ect, so you don't typically run that many miles average your speed out at 45-50mph make it all look legal to your miles and f the rest. or if your within 150 air miles of a company terminal throw you log book in the bunk when the flashing lights come on and tell them your on a time card. no log book regardless of what the company has you doing. they cant right you up for a log violation on a log book they don't look at.

When I was running out there, I just filled it out at the end of the day. As previously stated, 80% of the time you're on gravel. On top of that get with guys running the same area and someone will always shoot a text telling you where DOT is at.
