these driving jobs are ######## (Oilfield)
[/h] After seeing the guys posting on Saturday, I feel compelled to chime in. I am a seasoned driver and I have been looking around for a decent driving job in the oilfield. Best I can tell, there are none. I have listened to enough ######### over the past month I could puke.
Think about it, if it was that great, why would they be advertising. There is no one offering travel reimbursement, and most want to charge you to share a fema trailer with three other people.
I almost forgot, you have to buy 400 dollars +/- of "ppe" and spend a couple of hundred for the osha and the h2s.
So how does that make sense? Wherever you are, your in a bad spot financially, so how,or why would you be able to get all this #### together to work in frozen tundra on a strangers word that you have a job.
Update; out of 159 positive responses I got from this posting I received about 4 from overly defensive things claiming to be drivers, my guess would be they where they were actually the vermin I was thinking of when I originally posted.
So for my qualifications, well they were good enough to land me better wages than anything I ever saw or heard of in North Dakota, and I am working in Texas for a very well known company.
So like I said before North Dakota oilfield driving jobs are ######## :)

    Warning (North Dakota)
[/h] There is a posting today, Sept. 4, soliciting drivers for the oil field. Contact information is "Linda or Leigh at 208-542-5401". This is Bartt Larsson Trucking in Killdeer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They totally misrepresent the pay scale. It does not work out to $30.00 per hour. They use slight-of-hand to determine percentages. They have problems paying their parts bills, and are on COD with all parts vendors in the Killdeer area. Paychecks (direct deposit) were late several pay periods in a row. The office help in Idaho avoided contact when the employees wanted answers as to why their money was not in the bank on time. When they did break silence, they blamed the bank. The equipment is just junk, and there are many breakdowns. The guy that "manages" the terminal is very arrogant and abrasive, and will throw people under the bus without hesitation to cover his mismanagement. Stay away, or you will be sorry. This is a chamber of horrors.

As with any industry there's gonna be scams. Any company that requires you to buy more than your own steel toed boots should be steered clear of.

Done a lot of work in the oil fields. I was a 624 local pipeline mechanic for 18 years I have never hired out with a company that other than steel toed boots asked me to pay for the first piece of ppe, had a safety man look at date on my hard hat once said it was out of date walked to his truck got my replacement. ya I didn't know they were dated either. My point is any outfit worth traveling for will provide ppe other than boots. As far as living in man camp never was charged, it was two to a double wide. If you wanted a house cleaning lady to come by was 25 a week per man laundry 10 extra. Just letting you know what is normal, there are so many fly by night company out there now that close and take your last two pay checks with them, or charge you to share a trailer and put that money in their pocket. Oh we were also getting 115 a day per diem even though they provided housing. Trucking used to be my partime gig between jobs, bought a truck and a job the same day lol

Just because a company posts on CL doesn't mean squat. The only 2 jobs I have had in trucking were both placed on CL. I make good $$$, never bought any PPE except a coat for the Winter and the first company even gave me steel toe shoes.

I think the REAL issue here is ND. I meet drivers down here all the time in TX and OK who came from ND spewing horror stories. Sounds like the bad apples are up there in ND trying to run a bunch of scams. Not saying it doesn't happen down here but it is very apparent that ND is having a majority of the issues.

I agree. The absolute BEST jobs are never advertised. And that goes for any industry. "Foot in the door" jobs? Yeah craigslist might be good for that.

Because it is BOOMING. They need to recruit drivers bad which is how a driver is able to walk through a door and land a job in a matter of no time. It's simple economics, guess that is why it pays twice or more than what an OTR driver can make.

Yep-Rockdoctor is right-it's pretty crazy-you'd almost have to see it to believe it! Any time you have a boom the scams and con artists pop up-I wouldn't reject CL adds totally-just do your homework-this forum is a good place for that.

I don't know about ND, but it seems that in the Corpus CL all they have are listings for megas. For every mom-and-pop (or possible scam, I suppose) that advertises you see about six ads for US Express and the like. The CC area is booming, but the companies don't seem to use CL much. Most of it seems to be OTR too, so maybe CC isn't as hot as some other places. Hard for me to tell since I'm new to all this.

Just took another quick look and whoever is recruiting for USE is basically spamming the transportation page. Seems like more than half the ads on any given day are for them. CL should do something about guys like this. They always say they will but it never seems to happen.
