Not true at all, it's typical for a newbie. You can easily clear more than $60K your first year this way. Oil field jobs aren't necessarily high paying, it's the consistent overtime pay that makes it worthwhile.

What's the starting pay/yearly estimate for frac?
-
Frac would be about te same 15-17 hr but yearly it would be more like 75k-90k and usually with better benefits.
greywolfe and Nycoilfieldrookie Thank this. -
Gonna be a vacuum truck driver. I went in late friday afternoon. They told me to go back on Monday. Filled out the app, had an interview and started all the paperwork. did drug test onsite and was sent to do a physical abilities test today which kicked my ###. I'm not in the best shape but still survived..lol.. Gotta wait for drug test and background to come back so they can schedule me for a DOT physical.

You just need to apply at the right place at the right time. Wireline is the only specialized service I know of that hard to get into and that's only at the good wireline companies.

Do you have any suggestions? So far I have Trican, Cetco, & Nabors for Coil Tubing. -
I can do 80 hours a week pretty easily. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday at 12 hours for a total of 36, take Wednesday off for a reset (oil fields use a 24 hour reset instead of 32) Then Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 12 hours is another 36. Together that's 72 a week.
Some days I have been out for 19 hours. But that is only because it can take a long time to get swapped out and get back to the yard.Mcb77 Thanks this.
