hmmm, really clueless, eh ? I probably am not a perfect candidate for Schneider since I own two trucks of my own and have my own authority. I've also worked a few of my own deals in oilfield trucking. Unfortunately, it is quickly becoming uninsurable to do any oilfield work due to all the knucklehead, run non-stop, think they understand the free-market numbskulls doing it.

good thing there are a few people making money off of oil, because the rest of you clowns chasing your tails aren't even making enough to match the rising cost of living in those areas. And when it's all over with you'll be coming to me looking for a job.

Hey danny. that's a pretty broad statement there. I suppose that I shouldn't tell you about being an O/O because I'm not one. On the other hand, you weren't there on the same pads, at the same loading facilities and working for the same company that Schneider signed that long term contract with. Schneider hurt the fair rate. PERIOD. They were trickier than Schlumberger thought. Once again ( like usually happens ) the Out of Touch Big Wigs in some office somewhere made a boneheaded decision. They ended up with hurting the Drivers the most. ALL over the Oil Patch. I'm not trying to pick on you, but that post shows lack of intimate knowledge of that particular aspect of Schneider's operation. Have you been a Sandhauler long ?...........what ? you don't haul Sand ??? Schneider got paid. A lot. They were detested by the Company Men ( in general ) because of the System they had. Why ? Delays !! Bad productivity. Etc. Having to call the other Companies to cover the Loads that Schneider backed out of at the last minute because of their "System". Different aspects of Trucking work different ways, everybody here knows that. Simple, the Freight moves when it's needed. Schneider screwed up just as many people's lives as they helped. The Company Men tried to fire them at first but were over ridden by the Corp Big Wigs because the Contract stated that they had to pay Schneider X amount for X amount of time. Meanwhile, they starved out the Drivers that were already doing a good job for them. It cost at least one of those Office people their job because of the stupidity of killing the companies off that were able to actually get the job done. It would be a good idea to be careful of who you call "illegal, uninsured, slipshod operations". Especially without Firsthand knowledge of the Schneider fiasco.

Stevens transport is now hiring drivers for water tankers down in south texas for oil fields...these bottom feeders are going to do nothing but eventually start cutting rates to nothing and then hiring the cheapest drivers they can find...just give them time.

Me99 is touching on the argument about free market etc. An entity is free do business as they see fit, but in a "true" free market they reap the rewards as well as the penalty. Because someone is doing it cheaper, doesn't mean they are doing it profitably. We do not operate in a free market economy, please rid yourselves of that notion. The oil companies receive huge - HUGE tax breaks. Anyone remember the Wall Street fiasco? What the free market do for them? It didn't do any punishment for doing a crappy job, because it is not a real free market. If Schneider or any one takes on any market and ruins it, that is an example of poor business practices, not the free market. All my opinion. Thanks for listening, agree or not

I read about frac water getting in many peoples wells. Maybe that will have an impact on the industry? I know it's natural gas. I'm not sure of Schneiders involvement. You just made me think of it. :)

I like this little website with it's truck mouse pointer.

Man, so little time, so many stupid people. I guess that's the cross I carry.

So, you're a real working man but lumpers are losers? Are you a real manly working man?

You spend a lot of time on Capitol Hill monitoring all this or are you just a Radio Rambo? The latter, right?

Even the guru of owner operators, Kevin Rutherford, admits there is another side to electronic recorders. If they can prevent everyone from cheating, that means actual sleep for drivers and wage and freight rate adjustments- costs passed on to the consumer. I'm personally more libertarian, but I can't fault companies taking advantage of economies of scale for lobbying to end cheating.
Yeah, entitlement. Because that company doesn't exist to make a profit for it's shareholders, it exists to make a better life for the workers. We don't have a centrally planned economy, comrade, but if there were more people like you we might.

FTR, if Schneider failed in part due to a failure to cut costs while maintaining an acceptable standard of service, no one is happier than me. That means they lost trying to compete, not because a bunch of hick truck drivers think the world owes them a living.

    Who's next?

I haul frac sand and we have no regard for HOS whatsoever. It's just the job I hired into, I'm looking around. Any company abiding by the law has a lot to overcome.

Now, this is dumb, big. ceteris parabis (I know you have no clue what that means), cheaper is better value. I'd explain it but I'd rather let you look stupid.

Stevens doesn't pay their highway drivers a sustainable wage so it's not likely they'll pay tanker guys any more. Another true bottom feeder.
