Can anyone tell me if they got an advance with sunoco after orientation to help with expenses? If so, how long after did you get it? Thanks!

If you're experienced then about two weeks AFTER orientation....you'll get $1,100...also your relocation reimbursement.
If you're coming fresh out of CDL school then it's MONTHS away! ...of course this is totally arbitrarily applied depending on your DM apparently. Some new CDL guys are getting straight on, others have to be a "temp" first THEN get on.

All new CDL holders should ask about the temp thing, otherwise it could be sprung on you after you've committed to getting on. Then you won't get any of those needed resources for months...it could make the financial difference for deciding to continue or look elsewhere. I can tell you, counting on the funds then not getting them and only making $14/hr straight time(no OT)...for MONTHS can really put a strain on the budget.

FWIW when they say 30 days of temp until becoming an actual employee, what they REALLY mean is 30 until you can APPLY to become one. From there you will need to wait until your physical is scheduled and comes back, your drug tests come back and your background check comes back....so at least another two weeks!
And now I've heard that they are extending the temp thing for 45 days!

Plan on making it on your own for quite awhile until you start making any real money or get any reimbursements or advances.

Um, yeah but now I'm waiting for all my background stuff to come back...I'm working on my own but still only getting $14/hr...so no I'm not too happy at the moment.

I will be liking it once I'm reimbursed and making a % instead of $14/hr. It's a pretty big difference....

They supply them ...11 sets of FR long sleeve shirts and FR jeans...you supply the protective toed boots.

That's when you get hired on...if you have to temp first you're on your own. At least they don't require FR while you temp.

Cyborg, few questions if I may...

When training, is it only 40 hours a week? Do you ever get 50-60 hours in a week? You said no OT but does that just mean no time and a half?
Also, do you know how much experience Sunoco requires to be hired on with them and how long would the training be then?

    Thanks

Read my post six posts up...all of your answers are there.

To clarify the OT thing... The temp agency doesn't pay OT but you will work 45-65 hours...you just get straight time. Being classified as hourly, I think it's illegal, but I'm in no spot to take action at this point...I just need to get away from them and on with Sunoco.

Go to Sunoco's site, it spells out the requirements...then again they all seem arbitrary depending on the DM...

Just don't believe any one person, I've been told so many contradictory things by so many different people that it's just become a joke with me.... I find the answer out when it actually happens.

If you're new, be prepared for two or so months of no advance and only $14/hr....maybe you'll get lucky and be under a DM that doesn't subject you to the temp thing...just don't count on it until you're there! I found out when I got to Abilene that they switched gears on me.
