If you have the 2 years exp to be considered an experienced driver, the hiring process and benefits are much better. You get paid $18 an hr and you get an advance at the end of the week you have orientation. It takes ab 6 wks to get your fr uniforms but they give u an fr jumpsuit at orientation to use until thrn. As soon as you start training you start getting your per barrel and per mile pay. It takes a little bit to get in the swing of things but its so worth it with this company.

No one in my orientation got the advance at orientation...they got it two weeks later...no FR jumpsuits either... Also the two years experience seems arbitrary too....there was a 22 year old with 8 months experience and they hired him straight on...I had to do the temp crap first.

Like I said my fellow drivers at orientation got theirs two weeks after the orientation ended. Yes it was M-T.

There doesn't seem to be any conformity as to what they do or require from day to day or area to area as far as new hires go.

Honestly I could make ends meet on $14/hour until things fire up heck thats more then I make at current place of employment and we only get 40 hours a week not 50-60.... Its all in perspective I guess but just tighten the belt a little and pinch pennies until the big checks roll in and things should get better!

Yeah, but add in moving and paying $1k+ for rent, deposits, utilities and gas to keep driving to Abilene for different things and adds up quick.

Not sure the experience question was answered there. If I came from another company, how many months experience would be required to be hired on full time right away? I also imagine even with experience they would have a training period. Any idea how long that would be?
Going to check out their site...

Oh I completely understand and am agreeing with you 100% I'm just saying hopefully your costs are not to high that you can make it the 2-3 months until you get hired on with sunoco and starting making the real money... sort of a robbing peter to pay paul right now until things straighten out! Especially if you dont have much of a savings account going into it.

Again there's no complete correct answer...Sunoco states that two years experience is needed however I've seen guys with 8 months get right on. I've heard of guys straight out of school getting right on...others have to be temps first.

Now EVERYONE will be with a trainer for at least two weeks...even if hired straight on. The difference is if hired straight on you are making commission while training and you get your advance and relocation funds and uniforms etc.. If you have to temp first then you don't get any of that...just $14/hr until your training period is over plus two weeks for your background check and drug tests and stuff to come back...because for some reason it wouldn't make sense to get all of that started while training...so the $14/hr continues while you wait.
