To say it's a "process" is an understatement. But guess ya gotta look at it that after 4 to 6, or 8 weeks, you'll be trained and making pretty good money fresh out of cdl school with no experience. Doesn't sound so bad and definitely seems well worth it. And at least your being paid during your training with 50+ hours every week. Can't really expect to be making company pay during training anyways. Guess it's how ya look at it. Certainly sounds better than having to go OTR for a year or two then getting the job-no thanks. So I'll deal with the whole hiring process.
Keep a positive attitude. Maybe we'll see ya on the fields in the next few months buddy.
Any Advice about Sunoco?

Theres definitely no complete answer. Not even close. Everyone seems to think their experience is the same way but I guess they haven't talked to as many people I and a few others have. When I say my experiences on here, I don't need other's reiterated, I'm just stating MY PERSONAL experience.

If you have to do the temp thing and Sunoco decides to hire you can you stop working at the temp agency. If I had to go that rout I wouldn't mind taking the 2 weeks off.
I am looking at Hearne and Sour Lake locations.
Thanks

Yes chu3 everyones experience is different...there's absolutely no consistency between what each new hire has to do so no one persons account is how it will be for the next....so people here should be prepared. Heck even going by what Sunoco tells you doesn't mean that's how it'll be...you won't really know until it happens. Be prepared.
Had I known the process was going to turn out like it did I would've done things way different...instead I'm struggling to barely pay the rent. I made my decisions on what they told me the process and timeline was....but then it all changed once I was committed.
Then there's the added rub that the process is different for everyone based on who your DM is apparently...jte Thanks this. -
14 an hour for otr sounds about right. I wish the oil fields were booming when I got out of truck driving school . you might be strapped for cash for a while but at least you can drink some beers on your day off and kick back at home. instead of sitting at some dump truck stop

"True and that's why I'm sticking it out, but in all fairness...they should be upfront about the process and not mislead you or change midstream. If I had been told the true process and timeline for me I would have made other arrangements according to my budget.

I hear ya. I was told that I would be given housing my entire training time. Then I inquired further to make sure it was true, turns out it wasn't. I guess just one example of what your talking about. lol -
