Houston, you can find a job everyday with your résumé! I'd just rent a room instead of the extended stay plan though. Marten,Transwood,Sunset,Dillon,Containers( suck though) but they're a dime a dozen. You could actually find a different job everyday here. D.O.T. are on every corner ,binoculars in hand juuuuuust to make sure your not using electronics of any sort,so don't scratch your ear lobe,bc you'll get a ticket for that too! Lol I hear you on Fl,I moved out of there awhile back, they are really in the stone ages on so many levels, especially on drivers pay!!!

i will be going that way hopefully by the end of this comming week. i have been reading on here for months and have had some contact with people in texas and the biggest problem right now is finding a decent place to live. right now the best i can tell there is a lot of work in midland and odessa and some around san anaglo. i am taking a motor home so can at least sleep. online there seems to be lot of companys hiring in thses areas and with what you have shouldn't be any problem. read the post in the forum about other guys who have already did what you and i are going to do it will help a lot. hope this helps you some

So which is it? Or is it both? If you pull the pick-up behind the motor home, you don't need an "extended stay" hotel. In Texas, you can live in the R.V., and drive the pick-up to work (or find work).....save your dough for a deposit and first months rent on an apartment or house.
Just remember then....you will need to find a place to store the R.V. or sell it once you find a place to live.

    Hmmm. Two different people.
Do not go with Dillon. Worked there 3 months doing roofing flux and a little dry bulk. Well unless $200 a day sounds good for a full 14 hours. But they will hire anyone and will never fire you for anything. Pay is percentage 25% start to 29%. Talk to their drivers. Most dont know what an iphone is.

South TX is very busy right now too. Midland/Odessa is very expensive from what I read here on the forum.

I am a newbie with a newly minted CDL Class A with Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples and a TWIC (but no actual driving experience) Within a month of beginning my job search (mostly online) I got two offers in Crane and San Angelo area. It seems that what you are reading about landing a gig in W. TX is true. Housing in Midland seems tight, but the job in Crane has a man camp included with the job offer. One is hauling saltwater - the other is crude.

But, I admit that I only have limited info for you as I report for orientation tomorrow (8/27).

Thx guys for the info..yeah..negative on Odessa area..South Texas seems better..i am drama free and have a lot to offer for the right company..also could be interested in San Angelo..want to start with extended stay room when i get there so can concentrate on applications and knocking on doors..not interested in man camps..would like to have some place to call home so would get small apartment after 6 months..willing to work long hours..and dont care what time of day...Mr. Chibob,i like your suggestion best..can you elaborate a little more?? I also have other friends who are thinking about going in 2014...im ready to leave in about two weeks..cant stand Florida anymore...jobs are really ridiculous..drivers are so desperate they almost work for minimum wage...it really is sad what truck driving has become for all of us..i feel like we are all cattle waiting in line to get to the slaughterhouse..

You ain't lying about Floriduh!! I've never lost anything there, and dread the day I have to take a load back there!!! I lived in W.Palm, couldn't stand it. FYI San Angelo is not a bad little town,if you want to stay away from the big City life of H'town.
