    Just out of school. Needs to be 23 with a cdl for 2 years or DL in same state for 5 years. We seem to have a very relaxed insurance company for some reason.
    People who come here need to realize what they are signing up for. Watched a 10 year driver slide backwards 100 feet down a 12-15% grade last night on a sheet of ice in a snowstorm at 100,000 lbs chained up. Luckily he went into the ditch against the mountain. The other side was a 75 foot ravine. Its not for the faint of heart. If you think the oil companies pull trucks off the road when its not safe think again.
    My company operates out of Belfield, 18 miles west of Dickinson

    Seriously, what is it? I'm not a real trucker. I just came out here to make some money. I've been a class a cdl driver since 01 but this is my first full time truckin job. They tell me I'm dispatched and I go get in a truck. I've worked 44 days in a row. I know we use the 100 air mile short haul status. I've been pulled over 2 times in a year and a half and no one asked for a logbook med card or even if I had a cdl. Which I have the med card and the cdl. Dot is way outnumbered and no one is really regulating anything.

    Seriously though, I'm a flatbed o/o and I get tempted park my tractor and trailer and go for it. Especially when flatbedding slows down, like now. I have no doubt I can do the job. What's been holding me back is the housing question and where the absolute best money is at. What driving job pays the best in annual terms, and where?

    I pulled hazmat tankers back in '05, so there's the "X" endorsement experience. I pulled LVCs (Rocky sets) in CO and WY for 5 yrs(there's the winter driving and chaining experience). The only offroad experience I really have is offroading my 4wd truck. That and a few minor muddy road deliveries with my flatbed.

    Guy who slid down the mountain the other night, just left prime running flatbed. I would say oil is most money followed by salt and frac water then sand and services (pipe, hotshotting, etc) but its all about who's got the work. $50 an hour x 0 hours is $0. I would rather run these hockey rink back roads chained up than run on the two lanes out here.
