    seems to me like the standard going rate for pipe hauling out here in west tx is 75% for O/O and 25% for company drivers. i see nothing wrong with that. 4-5k a week for an o/o oughta keep you afloat

    I dont think so either if the rates were better. Houston is filled with guys that have pushed the rates down & will continue to do so is all Im sadly saying.
    I bump into a ton of o/o and independents that love to say they haul "oilfield" but they dont tell you theyre not getting the "oilfield" rates. Competition might not be bad but when some goofball comes in and starts hauling at Black Friday rates , it affects all of us.
    Thats only my humble opinion

    PS dont get me wrong when I get the freight and rate, I thank god for it. Beats dropping 8' lumber tarps on a load of lumber any day of the week.
