Thanks to both of you for your input!
You bring to me some good questions that I need to ask Schneider, if I decide to pursue them.
I've heard many negatives about Schneider from oilfield drivers down here. No, not the typical BASHING but many negative facts about the company.
They laugh when I tell them that I will be paid by the mile. Also, they tell me not to waist my time with them and that there are other companies in the oilfield that will pay rookie drivers much better.
I'm losing interest in them quickly.:biggrin_25512:
I'll keep you posted IF I continue to pursue them .

If you are there, go look around, because with Hazmat you can make 20/hr or more working for a better company. By the mile with hazmat? its one of the biggest NO-NO I've ever seen.

    Yeah lol Thanks,
Everyone seems to agree with you...that All they're trying to do is rip off the rookies.
I'm looking down the road at other companies.
Thanks Again for your feed back

I have to agree with the others. Having actually worked for them you'd be better off looking at other companies. I'd still be interested to see what they have to say to you. It could make for a good laugh. :biggrin_2559:

if its short runs, dont do it...you should be getting paid by the mile and by the barrel. if its longer runs , then by the mile is a diff story.

I sent you a PM tonight. Sorry I'm getting back to you so late, been running extra hard this week.

Just to put it out there for others too, I talked to a driver at Sun Coast in Edna TX which is just outside of Victoria. He said they got slammed and hired some of Schneider as a 3rd party. In the past we ran LACT to LACT but this sounds like they will have drivers actually going to wells. I hope they have better equipment for loading the oil. When we ran LACT to LACT the customer pumped our trailer on and off. One time we were sent to offload at a LACT with no customer pump. We ended up using the pump on our truck which was an OTR chemical pump. The thing had not been used in a long time so some failed and we ended up pulling up beside one truck which had a good pump and using it to offload each truck. The equipment was retired OTR trucks which were brought down and the tankers were OTR chemical tankers. Not the best situation!

I had a buddy down there who has been very loyal to Schneider for close to 4 years and he recently left to go and haul crude for someone else. To me that signals the pay is going to suck because he left a position of seniority and 2 weeks paid vacation to go and start over some other place. Let me be frank, it was never that great. I made $220 per day for 10-12 hours of work plus I had OK benefits. I also got $2500 to relocate and back then they paid $1000 quarterly bonus and $1000 longevity bonus. They also paid me back for some of my CDL tuition. I was straight out of CDL school with a goal to haul crude and not go OTR. Schneider helped me accomplish that goal so I am thankful for that.

Truth is, if you have 1 year of OTR experience and no oilfield experience you can find a company to hire you on to haul crude at much better pay than what Schneider is offering. If I had a gig where I was hauling water and I had been there for 6 months, I might just stay put then venture out after 1 year experience and see what I could find if I was looking to move into crude (not that there is anything wrong with hauling water, sand, etc but got to look for better pay as always). An OTR driver who currently works for Schneider might bite on this new offer (you do get home every night) and possibly an individual who only has 6 months total OTR experience might bite as well. Who knows, maybe Schneider gets desperate to hire like they were when I came out of CDL school and offer a newbie a chance. In that case it is not a bad first gig. I just don't see Schneider pulling a good workforce into Victoria with such a poor offer.

Yeah we ran from Victoria to Cuero empty: 30 miles
Loaded in Cuero (use to wait between 10 min to start loading and up to 8 hours back in the day in a HUGE line of trucks so need to take wait time into consideration since the pay is miles only)
Then head down to the Port of Victoria: 30 miles
or Point Comfort to unload: 62 miles (I've heard from Sun Coast drivers recently that the wait time at Port of Victoria can be quite long as in many hours)

Think the least I drove was about 60 miles a night and the most was right at 200 miles. But I also heard the Schneider drivers were supposed to do some wells on this account. Are they not paying any wait time at the LACT??? I'm trying to think of another crude hauler who does not pay wait time after an hour and I can't. Seems Schneider is trying to turn the oilfield into an OTR account. Not sure how they arrive at that $65K per year driver earnings figure when we were told the same thing on a $220/day salary.

I work for a major in Houston and I get .95/bbl from well to lact or 27% of the LHC. I have to keep a fire in it to make a check but it can be done........but work is slowing a bit......we lost a little and they have hired more drivers.

Talked to a Bridger driver ....he pays $6700 / mo lease / all done plus fuel to buy his t/t from them. Says he gets $81.50 hr /dem. waiting and cashes 30k /mo. Truck eats about 15k / mo and he takes 15k home. Says his was a used truck and new ones are higher. I'm gonna pass on that tho.....

Taylor has a shingle out looking for 30 drivers.......heard that today.......

And Kirk, I PM'ed you that info........
