I've seen him around here a few times lately but I've seen other times where he isn't here a whole lot. I don't know him super well but he is a smart guy and a straight shooter along with being a very helpful guy to a lot of folks here. I advise you to go look and read some of the threads he started. He already put a ton of useful info in those. Just click on his avatar name and you can see his most recent posts or on an avatar you can click on "Find latest started threads". You're welcome. The "Thanks" icon in the lower left corner lets someone know that you liked their post and can also serve as a way to get someone's attention so they will see that you might have another question. A belated Welcome to the Forum.

I use to haul crude for them for about 1 year back in 2011-2012 out of Victoria. Then in Sept. & Oct. of 2012 they had a huge layoff and only kept about 15 drivers at that time. I moved back home to Minnesota. They did call me and asked if I would come back in April 2013, but I turned them down. At the time I was working for them they pay you a flat rate per day, not by the hour or by the load. I believe they still pay a flat rate. Their bonus b4 I was laid off was $1000 per qtr, along with $2,500 for relocation if you were coming from out of state. I don't think they offer it anymore. According to their website their bonus is now only $400/qtr.

I've lost contact with the guys I worked with down their. Most of them scattered and went to work with other companies. Rock Dr. might be able to give you better info. if he still has contact with some of the guys. All I can say is the work was really easy, because we didn't have to go to the wells to pick up and test the oil. I have no idea what they do now. I know they're also looking for drivers in Corpus. They had me go through orientation in Dallas for one week, and then 2 days of extra tanker training at their terminal in Houston. Then when I showed up in Victoria I spent 5-6 days with a trainer and was then sent out on my own.

Their equipment at the time when I started was really bad. I swear some of those trucks were being held together with duct tape. But a couple months b4 I was laid off they finally were bringing in new day cabs and tankers. Hopefully this will help you out a little bit. Rock Dr. might be able to provide you more current info. than I can. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go out and shovel the driveway and maybe do some ice fishing. We're going to have a heat wave next week up here in Minneapolis with temps in the 30's. T-shirt weather. I must say I don't miss those miserable hot humid days down their in Texas.

    Hey THANKS
I live here in Victoria TX.
Schneider is hiring out of Victoria TX once again.
I have received a call to set up a phone interview on Monday.
Im not sure I want the job though.
They pay .50 - .54c per mile here for that job.
Im used to being paid by the hour so I don't know if this is good or poor pay for hauling crude oil???
Im a transplant from the California High Desert with less than 1 yr exp Class A.
The heat in the desert is up to115 in the summer.
    I Hate the summers here.

.50-.54c per mile!?! That is HORRIBLE. Even starting out with NO experience you can find better than that. Are you sure they're not offering anything in addition to the mileage pay?? I heard SNI pays by the barrel also...??

They must have changed their pay structure since I left. When I was their they never paid by the mile. Just using Sunoco as an example they pay .50c per mile plus .23-.24c per barrel hauled. They also pay an hourly rate if truck is broke down and you're waiting for repairs. This is off Sunoco's website. Arky drives for Sunoco, so he would know what their pay structure is like. We used to work alongside Sun Coast a lot and they paid hourly. Some of the guys I worked with went to Sun Coast. I would ask Schneider during the interview if they also pay for the barrels you haul. Also, if they pay for your downtime if your broke down or waiting for a few hours to get loaded or unloaded.

Another ? I would ask is how consistent the work is. There were some days where we just stood around with no work. We still got paid since we were paid a flat rate back then. But on slow days if you're only paid by the mile and lets say you can only do 1 load that would not be a good deal. I worked for Gulfmark in Victoria for 2 weeks b4 I moved back to MN, and they paid a percentage of each load you hauled. Paid pretty good. The more productive you were the more $$ in your pocket. What I didn't like about them was the camera's in the truck (Gulfmark). Not only were they pointed at the driver, but they also recorded sound. Too much invasion of privacy for my blood.

I'm going to assume the .50 - .54c per mile is for loaded miles only. I would be curious what they have to say to you. We use to load out of Cuero and usually delivered to the port in Victoria or to Point Comfort. Sometimes we would deliver down in Corpus but not very often. What they do now I have no idea. If you have any ?'s I'll try an answer them. Sorry I don't have any current info. about them.
