    Hi Chris,
Have you talked to your friends at LID? We will be in Texas Sunday. We will see you at the job fair. I have put in a few apps but I am 1200 miles away so I'm not sure if I'm being taken seriously. Send me a pm and we can hook up for lunch.

    Key did call.
I won't be working with them.

My buddy at LDI is still trucking. Ain't all the fun he says, but at least its experience.

    Nabors should be calling.

Just might have a Crude Hauling position after all. Will find out more on Monday. I can say that I ran into the brother of the president of a Crude transport company. I delivered pizza to him too. Filled out the app on Friday. Today i spoke to the president himself. His brother and him both were impressed with me. He told me that they will wave the no experience in driving. For Real!

So, this was a good week

    Update...

(Keep in mind I am seeking a career, not just a job)

    Got an offer from Nabors...

    I declined.

Have an offer from a Crude Hauling Company. Would be starting Monday.
They will train me, give me a brand new truck, cell phone, all the clothes.

They are a very established newer company.
    Locally owned and operated.

    Pay is Commission and mileage.

    Drivers make $70-$110K yearly.

    Now, he is the kicker....

I just applied last Saturday to a company that sells wholesale fuel. My interview is Wednesday.
It is almost sure they will hire me.

    They also have Frac Drivers.

Frac Drivers are only at the frac site and work on average 85-100 hours a week.
$22 an hour over 40 is time and a half.

    They make $115-$130 per year.

Wholesale drivers make a little less but run DOT. They arent working as many hours as Frac Drivers.

Maybe $110-$120K is what they make. You need two years driving experience to be on wholesale so I would have to start off as Frac Driver.

I want the most stable, safe and highest paid job I can find.
Long term employment opportunity is not all that important, but does factor some.

When I first began this journey to become a CDL Driver, I figured that hauling crude would be the best because it pays great and you are still home every night. Plus, if the drilling slows, the crude would still be pumping.

I am going to be forced to make a decision on which company to go for.

Vac truck is not even on the radar anymore.

Crude hauling is now in the bag.

BUT would I be more satisfied hauling fuel and being what is basically a gas station attendant all day everyday?

    This is a challenge.

I am just about sure that the Crude Hauling is going to be the most stable but will it always be good money? (+$100K)

Owner operator is an option too!!! This would be good but I am not for sure what the pay could be after all the expenses.

    1. Can I eventually haul crude owner operator after only sitting at the Frac Pad being a fuel pumper for two years?

If so, I would almost be inclined to take the Frac Driver if offered.

I would clear at least $20K more per year.

I would be what I assume is a bit more safer cause I wont be driving on the road.

There is more I could say.

I dont think I am over thinking it, just trying to weigh out the pros and cons to make the best decision.

I know there is no perfect job.

I am married, but my wife is still without her visa.
It will be at least another 8-12 months before she is able to be here in the States.

So the extra work for the meantime is not a major issue.

I also have no kids but will be working on as soon as she gets here.

Let me know what you guys think, Thanks

I would prolly go with crude hauling. If you do it you have experience to get back in it. Plus for me the hours would be better. Now I haul water for a co that wants me to work 17+ hours a day. Its a bit much. I'm at about a year of experience, so I'm going to leave shortly. I didn't want to have three jobs in a year. Otherwise I would have left earlier.

But if your down for the hours hauling on a franc lease you would get you some serious money, but so would crude. You would still know your wife with commitment crude requires
Franc driver would you? Divorce rate for oil field guys is pretty high.
With the hours I put in I live off of stripes food, not healthy.

I am down for the hours.
I am confident I will maintain a struck diet.
My wife won't be here for at least eight months, maybe one year or more. When she does, it is extremely unlikely we will ever divorce unless I become a major A hole. Bigger one i should say

The frac is what seems safer, easier, better pay.

Would I still be viewed by other companies as having viable experience if I sit on the pad everyday moving the truck only to refuel and maybe uncouple/couple the tanker?

I doubt that the experience would count. But, I also doubt I would turn it down. You came to the oilfields to make money...all that you can get your hands on...as fast as you can get it. After a couple years...and a decent bank account... you could always back up and start over if you just really wanted to be a crude hauler. Myself, I would have to be very unhappy as a fueler before I would want to be a driver.

Go for the money. I dont care how positive some of these guys are...this boom will bust. Make all the money you can make while it's available. You can worry about careers and long term decisions after the bank account is fat and healthy. Just my opinion. Thats exactly how I would pick between two oilfield job offers.
