I am debating if I should buy an old pneumatic tanker and start hauling frac sand. I am not used to the fee structure they pay $55 per hour....doesn't that get chewed up by fuel? If I average 45 mph and I get 6 mpg and fuel is 4.10 per gallon is about $30 just in fuel before you start adding in repairs, tires, insurance etc...Am I missing something??? I keep hearing there is good money to be had in hauling frac sand for the oil services companies....maybe I should stick with flatbed freight

That $55/hour seems awfull low, are you sure thats correct?
-

trucker91 Thanks this. -
and what's the rate you get? -
I know the company my dad works, they count $60 off per trip for renting their trailer. If having your own trailer, they would give $60 per trip. He avg 80-100 miles per trip.

Thanks for the comments...my error the $55 per hr was after 2 hours of free time they still pay mileage ...whew...thanks all ...they are really very fair on the rates... I guess I am too used to getting the short end I don't know when someone is being fair
