Walked in to a recruiting fair in el Paso and got a job as a frac hand. Got hired they need to do backround checks and all that jazz said could take up to a week but they want to speed it up so I'm very very excited been waiting for this for a long time. 3 days after getting my CDL I landed a decent good job. Going to be making good money. Finally breaking out into the patch, hopefully start as a tracker then gain oil exprience then move to a drilling rig. See how it goes!!
Got my foot in the door!!!!

Way to go men. Amazing what can happen when you get off that ### and show up in someone's face ready to work. You tell people and tell them again to show up if you want oil job and most sit on computer talking to some flunky in personnel while boss is out is shop hiring someone for their job who showed up shook his hand and said he would work hard. Got CDL? Even better.

What does say that these supposedly high paying big money oilfield jobs have to hire people with
nothing more than a CDL in there pocket and no experience to work for them.
How come drivers with 10 years experience aren't flocking down there to rake in the big bucks.
Not trying to rain on your parade dude,I wish you the best. But something's not adding up -
a) The companies PREFER to hire younger, less experienced guys for entry level/lower positions so that they can train them how they want to do things. They won't say it (because it would be illegal to) but guys in their late 30s or older just aren't gonna get a job when younger guys are available.,
b) The work is hard, the hours long, and not a lot of home time in most places. Far from ideal.
c) The "big money" you hear about is almost ALWAYS exaggerated. The money is good, but no one is exactly Donald Trump coming out of the oilfields after a year or two of work the way many people would have you believe.Thompysona Thanks this.
