So you're comfortable with a guy with 3 weeks driving experience who has little experience backing a tanker to an upright tank that has thousands of gallons of raw crude in it? Or a production upright ? Really? Ok......I should just give the guy a chance right?
I dont live a miserable life. I put my two years in and then went to the oilfields. Did you?
Just got my CDL. , looking to oilfield driving ,, any company that trains?

Point being... it doesn't matter what you think. It also doesn't matter what you...or I... did before we came to the oilfields. There are companies hiring new drivers for oilfield jobs and your opinion is not going to change that. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but if you choose to belittle people, I'll choose to belittle you...pretty much that simple.
We have many choices in life. In this particular situation, you can choose to be an internet bully and beat people down for not having experience...or you can help them. Personally, I choose to help.
Fwiw... I've been driving since '06.Last edited: Apr 28, 2014

Congrats JBL1236. There is a thread on here for Texas companies that train if Texas is an aption.

I'm betting they have pretty good handle on just how to train guys properly or they wouldn't do it. -

There's a lot to be said for working with a blank canvas.Dragonfly619 and stryker Thank this. -
LOL! The old "go over the road" for 2 years to earn your way into the oilfield BS is still being regurgitated here.
Guess what, I realized OTR was not for me and I got a gig in the oilfield straight out of CDL school. I have been at this for over 2 years and I have had ZERO spills and ZERO accidents. Meanwhile I have seen CDL drivers with over a decade behind the wheel roll tankers over. So the 2 year thing doesn't seem to be the main piece of evidence one should look to before they hire a driver.
Also using the premise that a driver is making you unsafe in the oilfield because they didn't go OTR for 2 years is flawed thinking. So you are fine with an inexperienced driver running the interstate next to your loved ones but if they come out to a lease site then you are in danger? Makes no sense.
In the end, I say someone with a CDL has the right to work OTR or oilfield and if I guy doesn't like it, most likely he feels threatened by the fact he has new competition for his job!Patrickm213, Dragonfly619 and TruckerLife1 Thank this. -
People say the same crap about needing to go to trucking school or you won't get a job.
What OTR experience is even applicable to oilfield work? It's not at all.
