1. Are there any companies willing to train you to drive in the oil fields?
2. How much can you expect to earn if you are a newbie trucker?
3. How much can you expect to earn if you have 1 year experience?
4. What keyword do you have to search to find the trucking company that hires truckers to work in the oil fields in Texas? I searched "trucking" and got this: http://odessa.craigslist.org/grd/4389790128.html (livestock hauling job)
5. Can you smell the oil there and is it bad for you?

These are all good questions I would also like to know.
-
1) yes and yes, usually frac companies, by my understanding...read some of the other threads
2) depends on where and what $16-$25 average
3) same as above, depends...newbie with co may start $18 exerienced $20
4) CDL driver ( water hauling, crude, sand, frac, well ( it works sometimes) roll-off
5) I have no clue, about oil, I've never gotten that close to a rig, but you can smell the H2S gas going down the road and at some places it's really bad. -
5) Is it ok as long as you wear a good mask all the time?
-
I know my husband wear's a monitor and he say's it has only went off once, He finished getting the water he was after then left, 5-10 min. Just google H2S gas, their are some pretty good articles to read. A mask would prevent any problems, but wearing it all the time would cause other problem's I'd think. -
To the OP, the best way to answer these questions is to go there. I found that out last year and could not get a straight answer about wages, working hours and a whole bunch of things so I took a couple trips out there.

Not saying come to this particular area.
Come out to the oil patch, because for example you can get on u.s. 158 head south and find about 10 companies hiring in a 3 mile strip and that's just one way.
The pay I put is correct for water haulers...but I didn't really explain it. my husband makes $16.50 an hr, BUT housing is provided, that is no small "perk" if you will. With what housing (rent) can cost, then add in water, sewer and electric. I looked yesterday at what is for rent in Big Spring, what I found was between $900- $1400 for a 2bd, 1bth house. I also saw an add for rental RV/lot $1,000 a month. Now that's not saying that you can't find a bit cheaper. With your own RV you can find rv sites for $250 mo ( including water & electric.)
You really just have to pay close attention and like everything else do your research. -
