Simple. Boring. Lots of Indians and Mexicans. Mostly good folks. Some long lease roads out there. Not a lot of traffic or congestion. Down around Carlsbad you get a lot of tourists but still laid back for the most part.

Great little town. It's all about oil and high school football (bulldogs) hunting and 2 hours to the mountains.

Hope this don't cross forum guidelines but have offers from two companies one big lake tx and other artesia just want thoughts from drivers in the trenches which would offer most hours and best Monet geographically speaking

Personally I would take the Artesia job long before the one in Big Lake, even if it paid less. There may be little to do in Artesia, but Big Lake has NOTHING! The only minor exception is they are just finishing up a new Pilot, so at least you can get a shower there. Just west of Artesia are the closest thing you will get to tree covered mountains around here.

I like the Artesia-Carlsbad area. Pretty easy-going place and not too far from my home near Socorro. I keep sniffing around for opportunities down there, but it's hard to beat the deal I have up here in Mt./Wy.
