I am going to be flying down to the great state of Texas within a month to look for an oilfield job. What would the best area be to go to? Odessa, Midland, Victoria, Laredo, Houston, San Antonio.I will be renting a car and I am willing to drive across most of the state if necessary. According to prior posts in the forum Odessa/Midland is quite popular. Supposedly there are signs up everywhere looking for CDL A drivers. But are these jobs only going to work you 70 hours a week? If I am going to work down here on a rotational schedule I want to work as many hours as possible.
Another Texas Oilfield question

Which part of your question wasn't answered in the dozens of other threads?

Just drove down there Thurs. and back on Fri. There are plenty of signs out all over midland. Some water and crude haulers use the 100 mile radius rule and some don't. If you want to work max hours I would look at fracing.

I have been applying online. Got interview setup for Wed, and possible one on Friday. I have put in easy 50 application/resumes online, 3 calls so far, I rejection email. Next week I will start calling back places I put applications online with. Most of the Frac places will hire without experience if you have your CDL already from my past exposure to them. But also make not most Frac Companies its more like 10% Driver, 90% Labor and Equipment Operation.

Isn't it better to go talk to these frac companies in person and submit resumes that way?
-
I'm sure showing up is great, but companies likely spread over 250 miles. Just make sure you know what your getting into. Its not a driving job at most frac companies. Its an outside operator/labor position that requires you to drive. Its not hard, but can be very physical and intense at times. Other days you may spend 13 hours trying to stay awake and "watch paint dry". But if like you said in original post, its definitely part of the patch you can work more than the 70 hours most places.
