I just finished training, and to be honest, the training was good for a change. I went to West Texas because my dad works for a company out here that has Vac and Pump trucks, I figured the best way for a women with no experience in the oilfield, would be to get on with my dad. My dad told me to try other places first because they did not have good trucks etc. I tried other places with no luck so my dad finally talked to his boss because I was persistant. I never thought the trucks would be as bad as they are, I mean, I drove one the other day that the driver door did not shut and I had to hold it while going down the road, seat belts do not work, when I turn curves the thing is wobbling like kingpin will break at anytime.
I do not know what to do what to do at this point, I told my dad had I known he was driving crap like that, I would have chewed his ### a long time ago. But, my dad feels because he is older, his options are limited. Any advice on staying safe as much as possible, cause I at least need to stay six months because that is what I promised them for helping me get experience so I can get on back in East Texas where I live?

I'm guessing, but is a lot of your work and driving off-road, i.e., not on any public highway? That may be why they are skimping on maintenance and getting away with it, though there is still the safety of the worker to be considered... Hopefully they have actually hired you and you are not getting paid by form 1099...

Do NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT DRIVE.these TRUCKs IF YOU FEEL IT IS UNSAFE...
THERE IS A CLAUSE in the motor Carrier handbook.. THAT STATES ..A MOTOR CARRIER CAN NOT FORCE YOU or FIRE YOU TO DRIVE or Operate any UNSAFE VEHICLE or equipment . SIMPLY GET OUT AND WALK IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO CORRECT PROBLEM..IMMEDIATELY RESIGN AND OR document every little single thing THATS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK everytime and keep DATE/TIME record. YOUR COMPANY CAN NOT FIRE YOU SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE EQUIPMENT IS UNROAD WORTHY THE COMPANIES KNOW BETTER AND WILL DO IT IF U DONT NO ANY BETTER I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GOOGLE CDL RIGHTS AND LAWS JJKELLER BOOKS IF YOU ARE A NEW DRIVER IT SHOULD BE IN THERE IF YOU HAVE ONE...you can even call D.O.T. and have tHem AUDIT THEIR VEHICLES...DO NOT LET THE REASON TO DESTROY YOUR DRIVING RECORD BE BECAUSE YOU OWE THEM MONEY..that will be youreverage if they wanna take you to COURT ;;U AGREED TO WORK WITH AND SAFE EQUIPMENT NOT HARMFUL OR DANGEROUS UNMAINTAINED EQUIPMENT SO DONT WORRY BOUTH TBAT PART ..THE NUDGE WILL SEE RIGHT THRU THEM....I HAVE SEEN ALOT AND I DO MEAN ALOT OF NEW DRIVERS CDLS GET COMPLETELY RUINED MONTHS AFTER HAVING THEM BY THESE COMPANIES ALL THE TIME....MOST TRUCKING COMPANIES ONLY DO ENUFF TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD I USED TO WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT NEVER,EVER MAINTAINED VEHICLE AS A RESULT OF ME NOT KNOWING ANY BETTER AT THE TIME I WAS SHUT DoWN 4 TIMES BY D.O.T. WITH OVER 30 VIOLATIONS TRUCK hAD TO BE TOWED u name it and it was wrong with it bald tires, bad kingpin,Bad and leaking cylinders of hydraulic fluid, cracks in bed, hnsecured loads because or cancer in bed,Electrical light and dashboard problems...NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE D.O.T WOULD NOT LET YOU GET BACK IN VEHICLE..THATS HOW BAD IT WAS..I WAS STUPID.AND YUNGER..BUT U LIVE AND U LEARN FROM MISTAKES IM SPEAKING FROM 1ST HAND KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE AND AS A RESULT OF THAT MY DAC GOT COMPLETELY DEMINISHED HAD TO WAIT 3-4 YEARS TO EVEN GET A JOB AGAIN MY ADVICE TO U IS TOO Get a DOT BOOK IMMEDIATELY AND DONT BE SCARED...IM GLAD GOD HAS BLESSED ME WITH ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE AND NOHOW TO WHERE I AM MY OWN O/O and don't have to drive no one crap anymore...YES ITS COST INVOLVED,YES THINGS BRAKE AT TIMES,YES U HAVE GOOD DAYS AND BAD,AND YES U MAKE GOOD MONEY ALSO

AS A O/O I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLE AS I WANT TO

You and dad both should try Averitt Express. They have good equipment and home weekly. I would not drive unsafe equipment. It will mess up your CSA record and you wont be able to find a job anywhere. Averitt has new driver programs. Others you could check with are Pasqual Truck Lines (have to stay out 26 days with them though) in Murray, KY and Stevens Transport in TX.

I think that you'll probably get more pertinent advice in the Oilfield Trucking Forum, so I'm going to move your thread there.

As to the subject, anybody that has ever shared a lease road with water haulers will know why the equipment is beat all to hell. It's amazing that some of the trucks even make it through the first year.

What advice? This is obviously your decision. Either continue to drive the trucks or do something.

Why would you need to ask someone else about what to do about your safety? It's your life not anyone else's. It's your license, and your money if you get fined or even worse you get in a wreck and possibly kill someone.

Why are you even driving a truck that won't pass your pre-trip inspection?

The equipment won't get any better.Who trained you?I mean was it trained for an 18 wheeler or what? You should get on with a starter company to get the exp. From one female to another,I sure as heck wouldn't be staying there wondering and worrying whats going to happen every minute of the day.Had a company like that. Its no way to have to live while making money.

I would think the DOT has to know this. Many of these oil outfits have bad equipment and DOT doesn't do anything.
