Confirmation simply means checking on the status of your application. Some companies take awhile to get the application process going. So when you go to their website and you wanna see if your application is getting worked on,you'll need to type in that confirmation number.Don;t know what the background check list is for oil companies. But snce it is in the transportation industry,I would imagine its the same background check that all the trucking companies perform.

You probably sent the apps in thru the taleo network or intelliaps. Lots of companies use those sites to gather apps. The intelliap one is cool because it does all your info if you want it, so that you can use it if there is another company in their system that you want to apply to.

The conf# is just letting you know they have the app.

With the background, if she's got HazMat then she's probably good to go for most companies, so long as the MVR doesn't turn up bad.

Companies have to verify the last three years worth of employment. (Many do that through DAC and or Tenstreet.) If she has had many jobs in that three year period, she may not get hired. The will pull her MVR and verify that her CDL and all endorsements are valid. They will also request all drug and alcohol tests performed by other companies. ( They are required to gather 10 year history of employment with full address, telephone numbers and contact people.) Sometimes, depending on the company, the 10 year history will present itself on the DAC and now, Tenstreet. It is this detail stuff that messes up some drivers, it has to all be there and be as accurate and you can possibly make it. IF you have any doubt about what you are putting on the application, you need to, in writing, put on the app all information is to the best of your recollection. (It also helps to keep a transportation resume where all of the companies, dates, addresses, phone numbers are correct and recorded. That way when you fill out an application, you -know- it is correct.) Do not fudge on your application, if they discover that you have falsified your application, most companies fire you on the spot. After all, if you are coming through the door lying, what else will you do?

Doesn't DAC just record DOT jobs? If you're just coming into the industry, you won't have a record with them. I know I checked my Hireright record and there was nothing. Not even the companies I was working for at the time.

Yes DAC is transportation industry only, but with that said other departments in the parent company of DAC and Hireright, can and do, verify other industry employment. If you are coming on as a new driver never worked as a CDL driver then they will still verify your last three to see what kind of employee you were/are.

That's kind of odd, since I can't seem to access my info from the previous employers. Why tell me I'm entitled to view my report when you aren't going to list what I've been doing for the last decade?

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just wondering why an employer would be able to access that info while I can't.

We used Hireright, but in this case we supplied the information and they would verify it. They also would run checks on public records (Such as court records, social security and the credit reporting agencies.) and return any information that had not been included in the application. For our office personnel we used Goodhire. You are "allowed" to view this information upon receipt in most states, all you have to do is request a copy of the information. (This is not true in all states.) Just about any job you get these days will do a background check, so it only makes sense that you do a background check on any prospective employer.

I agree, but that's not what I'm getting at. If Hireright has other divisions that record noon-DOT employment, why isn't it showing up in the report they sent me? I could understand if the companies I worked for were small operations, but they were multi-national, and I'm sure that they reported to HR. Yet, when I got my report from them there was nothing. I'm just wondering, because I keep getting emails from HR that basically clue me into the fact that a company is checking with them. I don't have a problem with this; I just want to know why they can access information that is not available to me.If there was incorrect information in there (which I doubt), how could I challenge the veracity if I don't know what was reported.I have a problem with this, if in fact, this is what is happening.
