I will be leaving Monday morning headed out to West Texas from Houston to see about any and all oilfield jobs..I finally got my Twic Card and Hazamt (hard copies) came in already had Tanker but no exp.....Been OTR for about 5yrs..Im renting a car for a few days to get up to that area..My question where do you begin to even start to look for jobs at in those areas???? I've been on indeed.com and craiglist not much help....Is it even worth the trip, are there still jobs available, are there any motels or hotels..if i have to stay in my car thats fine ill find a truck stop or something...Right now i just want to work dosen't even have to be a CDL job but i would like something in the oilfield...Thanks for all replies

Drive up there by 67 from san angelo to big lake then up to garden city via 137/33 then 158 to midland
That will take you right through where the action is and most yards are right of the hy

You do understand that there are jobs in the Houston area? You'll be driving right through San Antonio as well...plenty of oil jobs along the way.

    wtxiceman and H-Town Thank this.

Lots of work between corpus and san Antonio. No reason to come all the way up here. Im sure housing is much cheaper down there. But the frenchman gave good directions

ACME is all O/O and many owners are fleet owners. Pay is up to 29% of the load. I believe they have a terminal in Houston. Get on pulling flatbed if you can. They also run hotshot and pickups.

Well, wages and hours are generally higher in Midland/Odessa than Corpus/San Antonio... so those are a couple of big reasons to be in West Texas as opposed to South Texas. It really depends on what the OP wants to do, specifically.

OP-Hit the frontage roads along the 1-20 between Monahans and Big Spring. In all seriousness, with your level of experience you'll probably have at least a half dozen job prospects by the end of the day.

    H-Town and Lepton1 Thank this.
