I have been looking at different job ads and have come across some that say 1 year verifiable driving experience. How can you prove your driving experience? I only have oilfield driving experience, not otr

Well, they typically make you sign a release authorizing your old company to tell your prospective company that you were indeed a driver for them, the length of time you were employed and if you would be considered for re-employment.

Your prior employer has to verify it for them. Usually through a form that I'm sure big companies send and receive like clockwork.

If you applying for otr, the oilfield experience won't help much. All you can do is fill out the app and let them decide. If you are applying for another oil field job, the experience counts.

If its an otr job that you really want, give it a shot with an honest assessment of what you have done.. put the ball in their court. They may offer a solution.

A Mom & Pop I worked for farms out the verification process. The 3rd party company that ran a check on me didn't even contact previous employers. They got records that showed who paid what into my social security.

Not knowing how they verified previous to submitting my resume, I listed a guy that I drove for "under the table". I figured they would call the guy. Well that came up on the report as "record not on file" (or something like that). --But I got the job anyway. The only reason I even know about that ding is because the verification company sent me a copy of what they sent my employer. My employer never said a word about it lol.

Most good companies will follow up with your previous references...
