Think CAB would hire somebody just out of school?

allright, sorry it's been so long since i originally posted this.

ended up going with CAB. $250 round trip, to run from Nemo/Cleburn loaded to drop/hook mt in Von Ormy yard then head back. Rinse and repeat the next day. Wait time pay a'int great at the sand plant, $15 an hour, but at the same time so far, there's not been too much of that and getting paid to sleep really ain't that bad of a gig. Esp since i'm now home every night.

Went with CAB mainly because i could not get Chalk Mountian to return a phone call. Worked out though, guys that were doing the drop and hook runs for Chalk are now delivering to pad sights, for the same rate they were getting for the drop and hook gig. ($16.50 i think.)

For this gig CAB is running 2013-15 Volvo sleepers set @ 70. All with fridges, some with apu's some not, but idling is not an issue. (drivers that deliver to the wells are in 2013-15 Pete's.) Schedule is 4 on 2 off, but working xtra days isn't a problem.

Am i getting rich? eh, doing allright. Made the change to be home and it's working so far.

That's not bad. $15 hr is OK. Lot don't even pay that any more. Giving 10 hrs free time before hourly pay was the last straw for me..Do they pay to use Pickle Parkway {130} so you can miss all that cra p from Austin to San Antonio? My boss did after we all told him we weren't going South anymore if had to sit in 3 hr traffic jams. Sure they have the Petes to hold up better on lease roads. Volvos are nice. Drive one now. But it is 99%on road. Not sure how it would hold up on really tough well road.

Trust me i'm not gonna turn down the $15. there is no "free" time. as soon as you hit the sand plant the hourly starts. small bonus is once make the trip down and back, get the $250, then head strait to the plant and get the $15 on top to wait in line till the next CAB driver shift starts. (they come over and swap out the drivers.)

i kinda figured that about the pete's vs the volvo's. typically the only time the volvos i've driven have gone off road is at the sand plant. from what i've heard, they used to pay for the toll road, but now have us running mainly 281 to avoid austin. little longer time wise due to the stop lights, but i ain't gonna argue.

as for hiring right outa school. not sure. ive got almost 2.5 years otr, when i turned in my app, they were like, "just made the experience cut off."
