How y'all doing I am trying to get into moving sand out there in texas but am having difficulty finding any pneumatic trailers for sand. I have been in touch with some people that have pointed me to trailers that are about 12'4'' but was told that i would be able to load at all sites which means less money. I aint about that life so if anyone could please pm me or give me more info I would really appreciate it.

I've been looking myself. They are scarce. It's cheaper to buy one brand new for $37,500 than to buy a 30 year old used one for $27,500. I looked up a guy named Felipe at Phone number deleted on Craigslist. Spoke to him today, real nice and informative fella. They're on back order 10 week waiting list. Good luck.

It's 2011 all over again. New trailers are a 3-6 month wait, used ones are scooped up and gone before you call about them. And prices are reflecting the situation. A trailer spec'd like mine, which I ordered in December 2012, is now $13, 000 higher in price.

Pumpers are using a lot more sand per well today than they were just a year ago. According to the quarterly SEC filing from US Silica, the equivalent of an entire trainload per well on average (across all shale plays..Permian, Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Bakken, etc.). This has caused the sand shortage, where companies are hiring as many hoppers as they can get to transfer sand from the mines to distribution facilities, along with a bottleneck of trains specifically around Chicago (most of the sand comes from Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota).

Sand hauling rates are definitely on the upswing. We've had 2 rate increases since April and the owner says he's working on another as we speak. Still not where they were in the salad days, but I'll easily pass $300, 000 gross this year.
