    Hey Everyone!

I try not to ask questions that have already been answered in the forum. However I searched oilfield interviews and didn't find anything. Can you oilfield veterans chime in and help us rookies out? Here are the questions I need help with?

What do you wear to an oilfield interview?

What type of questions will be asked?

Is it a in depth interview or short and sweet?

Is it okay to ask about the pay at the end of the interview or wait until an offer is extended to you?

    Thanks in advance!

Jean , tshirt, boots . (Eeady to work) Will do it . Dont come in a suit and tie ...

ask about pay is no problem but i ll ask how many hours are usually on the paycheck ( ie usually ever two weeks) if pay is high but no hours well ... Lower but with more hours is better.
However you need to know that oilfield is not flat line work load its more like a saw with some low activity.

from my experience i was the one asking questions.. The pusher should have your paperwork and know what he wanted so dont be afraid to ask what the heck you want.
now if you got interview with the manager it will be a little more conventional as he ll ask you some question from questionnaire . Then just answer frankly and there too just ask what is on your mind.

His right, not ties or slacks. Just look sharp. I wouldn't recommend a t-shirt though. I was interviewed by a manager and his the one that asked me what I was expecting to get paid, which I don't know if you even have a choice since I was new to frac. I really have not heard of a company where you can actually negotiate your salary when your a new guy in the field.

The usual oilfield interview questions you'll be asked (in order):

    1. Do you have a CDL?

    2. Do you have a pulse?

    3. When can you start?

For my interviews its always dark khaki pants, button up shirt, and steel toed boots. Most people hiring probably wouldnt notice but you dont want to be caught on customer site without steel toed so why not make the effort to show up at the interview ready to help the company.
As others have mentioned its ok to ask about money and hours. I always do after asking about training, safety, equipment, FR gear, etc.
Most interviews Ive been to in oilfields are short. They need bodies so usually arent to in depth. The usual stuff- do you have any oilfield experience, how long, whats your driving exp, etc. The main point your hubby may want to remember is that the people want to hire him but he needs to give them a reason to believe his lack of oilfield experience wont cost the company a contract or stick their tractor in a ditch. He should be prepared to talk safety safety and more safety. Its what he can bring to the table.

Good luck. Where is he interviewing?

Most of the guys I went to an interview with at haliburton were dressed in FR with metatarsal boots looking ready to work and they all got hired. I wore nice clothes and only had four years otr experience and didn't get any job offer. LoL! I drive water bottle now. Happy though.
