Thanks to all. It's forums like this that truly help out. Some notes:
I will be based out of Elmendorf, Tx. It's just south of San Antonio off loop 1604. I live off of 1604 about 25 miles north of it so it's a straight shot down the loop. Yes, it's OT after 40 hrs but not double time, only time & 1/2. Double time would be awesome! Since I have no 'experience', I'll obviously get that working there. Turns out Halliburton would have even lent me a truck to go test in if I didn't already have my cdl. The impression I got from the info session is that guys that already had a cdl had a huge advantage. One guy was applying for mechanic work and even they need a cdl, he left after he found out. I also have the tanker end; sanjel wants hazmat too but will give you 60 days to get it.
So here's what happened to me on Thursday........

Forgot to mention for the out of towners: south San Antonio has tons of cheap housing. 1. Because of the oilfields and 2. It's the south side. Not knocking it but the entire area has always been lower income although there's still entry of nice houses here and there. I was born and raised in San Antonio. My point: hotels are relatively cheap and all the south Texas oil towns like pleasanton, Charlotte, Floresville, cotulla, dilley, pearsall, etc. are all within 30 from there.

Where is all the fracking going on? By which smaller city's outside san antonio? And congrats

13 bucks an hour for a oilfield truck driver.
Now you know why the other drivers got up and left
the interview. It still beats a bottom feeder OTR gig. -
Thirteen bucks, with 100 to 120 hours.
40 @ 13 = 520
60 @ 26 = 1,560
80 @ 26 = 2,080
So weekly gross between $2,080 and $2,600.
Roughly annual gross of between $108,160 and $135,200.
I can see why those other drivers just walked away when they heard how bad the pay was...
Nice work if you can get it and survive it!
Be careful what you wish for...
And congratulations.rckbottom Thanks this. -
I just took a load of silica flour to the Sanjel plant in Cibolo yesterday. Go to Sanjel plants frequently up north with that stuff. Most the guys I've talked to over last few years really like working for Sanjel. Seems like a decent company......

Sounds like a decent gig.
No way I'd ever consistently work 100+ hours a week, that's crazy.
I like nice paychecks as much as the next person, but I also enjoy having a life outside of work...Chibob, Wild Murphy and bergy Thank this. -

Good going, Educatedtrucker. I admire the attitude that you were going to get this job no matter what. I'm sure the attitude came across in your interview as well.
From my understanding Halliburton will put your dick in the dirt with the hours but bro, Big Red is known to have some of the best training anyone in the oilfield can get. If you can suck it up for 6 months or so, you'll have the exp and credentials to land a large percentage of the oil field jobs that may be available. This is a great opportunity for you. Congrats
