    Typically how long are your journeys? Also how much time do you get to get out of the truck and how long do you stay out?

    It all depends.....where the job is at...what water depot they send you to but if you drive over 300 miles in a day it's been a long day as for how long you are outside the truck generally it's about a half hour on each end again it all depends where you load and how fast your pump is......I was on a service job yesterday from 8 to 1 where I was outside the whole time with the truck off and just gravity feeding water into a hole that was being drilled......130 barrels of water lasted 8 1/2 hrs....we swapped out and other driver was there 3 1/2 hrs

    cwill187 Thanks this.

    Most crude haul will be 100 miles or less one way. Most of those will be 30 miles or less one way. These companies will truck it if they have to, but they will eliminate those longer runs as fast as possible as well... either by rail or pipeline.

    well, are you talking about fresh water, production water, crude, pipe, sand....

    Crude, my experience, average was 55 miles each way... we had runs as short as 8 miles, and as long as 160 miles.... Lost the 160 mile runs to another company that could do it in 20 miles, different unload station.

    Friend hauling for pilot crude, 25 miles each way is the average...

    It depends a lot on what you are doing. I am presently driving a bed truck, so not many miles. If I don't have a swamper I am in and out of the cab constantly to hook and unhook. I'll bet some weeks I don't cover 100 miles.

    As a water tanker based of San Angelo, we do on light days about 250 miles, and busy days 350 miles. (every time you load/unload you get out of cab and back in - and usually back in the cab while you wait the load to be in or out - about 15 to 25 min average depending on your pto).

    Like everybody else said it depends on what jobs you'll be doing if you stay on location moving fluids around on a Flow-back you wont make much miles, or if you are stuck with a kill-truck just bringing brine.

    edit : forgot to add;
    if more than mileage its the condition of the road that will make the timing . if your location is just of blacktop then you re going to have good turnaround time. however if your location is in the middle of a lease and having to driving 15 miles of nastiness... well it can be quite different, from 5mph to 25mph depending on conditions.

    I usually do about 30 to 60 miles but there are those longer runs occasionally. I get a 590 mile round tripper every now and then. It's a sweet 120 mile deadhead with a 240'ish loaded and the rest is back to the yard. Load once/unload once and go home; combined with Texas' 75MPH speed limit and I'm back on the yard in about 11 hours

    All depends,I have driven 290 miles for a load of sand than another 200 to the well. Other days it's a 50 mile round trip. Sometimes I spend a couple hours at a well and others I spend a day and a 1/2 or two.( Paid detention of course) And able to get out and do routine maintenance etc.
