    Hey all.

I will be graduating CDL school around the end of October and I was wondering if there are any good starter companies around San Antonio that take CDL graduates. I plan on applying to Halliburton but I was wondering if there are any other outfits that take CDL grads which people enjoy working for. I have a clean record and all my endorsements.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

I'm not sure if you are only wanting to know of oil field only or not. I live in San Antonio, there are several oil field joints. Tri Mac is on 35 and topperwien, they take new drivers IF you go to a school they approve. I got my CDL two years ago and Went to Sage, they would not take that. But, try. In Cibolo on the out skirts heading north there is Sanjel. I have a good friend that is part of management there. I went out to the man camps to check it out one day with him, top notch. Try them, but they may want fracking back ground. I started with Reynolds Nationwide in San Antonio on Hwy 87. It is smooth bore tanker going to panhandle loading milk and back. It is not like Indian River where from what I hear you sit around waiting to get loaded. You get your own load card, go to diary and load, do the manifest, seals, scale all yourself and boogie. They take new drivers or at least they did when I got my CDL. I like them and you will drive your tail off. Of course, any of the big starter companies hire out of San Antonio. Hope that helps a bit, Good luck to you.

    Thanks omg-downshift,

Doesn't have to be just oil field. I'd like to keep my options opened in case something doesn't work out. I'll check out Trimac since they having an opening in San Antonio but my school probably won't be on their approved list either. A poster on here said that Sanjel only takes people with experience so they might be an option in the future but probably not now.

FFE has tankers in the oil fields. Check their website about the tanker division.
    Schneider and Stevens also do.

    Thanks Chinatown,

I was thinking about Stevens tankers too but they seem like they're only taking people with experience and they're all the way out in Stockdale. I might take a look at them again once I get some months under my belt. I'll check out the other ones you posted too.

    Thanks warlord.

Yeah they're at the top of my list, but I just want to be sure I can find a job in San Antonio if I find out a fracking or cementing schedule isn't for me.

Trimac has contract with Halliburton. I see them all the time at our yard hauling away the cement waste...I believe they take it to the dump and blow it off there...theyre drivers seem happy

No clue about job fairs since I'm currently in Chicago. But it does seems like there's a few every month in the San Antonio area if not more. Might use some Southwest points to fly down for one once I actually have my CDL.

I would like to start driving once I get my CDL and get out of Chicago before the snow hits lol.
