I was offered a position today with Nuverra/PowerFuels in North Dakota as a water hauler. This will be my first journey to ND and just in time for winter. Previously I worked in South and West Texas, so this will be as an extreme change as it could get. It seems this is a good time of year to apply for any of you looking for a job as from what I'm told when winter comes around, a lot of drivers head South. The process was extremely fast as I just applied online this past Saturday. Orientation starts the 27th. The pay package they offer seems good and I've never heard anything bad about PowerFuels in my research. Hopefully now owned by Nuverra, not much has changed. Anyway, just throwing it out there for anyone in the job market. Oh, housing is offered, but you pay for it and it's not cheap. Although, it appears nice. Good luck.

I have a few questions if you dont mind. Do you have hazmat and doubles/triples endorsement? Do they required you to switch your CDL over to North Dakota once you start work? How far are the apartments from the work place? I heard it is an hour drive? And last, do you get your own room with no roommate?

I have all endorsements so I'm not sure what's required. I assume just tanker to haul water. You can keep your home state license. I have no idea how far the housing is. I hope it's not an hour, because in bad conditions that hour could become two. Housing you have the option to be by yourself or get a two bedroom and split the rent.

Interesting, thank you. I was wondering what city you are starting in? Because they have 3 or 4 locations in ND, i think. Also, i notice they pay by percentage, does this concern you? All i hear in here is- "stay away from percentage pay".

Ya, you actually don't find out what yard you will be working out of till orientation. This could be concerning to some, but I don't know the difference in areas as I've never been there. % pay does make me a little nervous. Two of the three jobs I've had was by the hour. The one that was % based I didn't stick around long enough to see how it would work. My recruiter told me to conservatively expect to make 80-90k first year. Of course a recruiters job is to sell you the job, but hopefully it's true. I couldn't see myself going out there for less. I can make 70-80k all day long living in sunny and warm San Antonio. I'm going to give it a shot though. I've been looking into ND for a while now and figured I might as well give it a chance. I'm in a situation though where I can just pick up and leave if I don't like it. So why not. Oh, the work schedule is 5/1 for four weeks, then a week off, which I like. You do have the option to work your week off if you like. All in all it sounds like a good offer. I hope it goes well.

I have worked percentage pay since Jan 2012 the way its set up Its a win win You get bumped up at 90 days then again at years 1,2 and 3. If you have a strong game plan and bank your earnings you can do very well. Hope this helps best wishes to you.

Also, if you decide to work nights there is a $5 an hour differential. So if you work all your scheduled days it's an extra $1,200 a month. Not bad!

Water is easy. I've done both and for the right money prefer water. This opportunity seems like it could be the right money.
