I know that not all man-camps are going to be the same. Do most man camps have food available for when you are off-site? As in sandwiches and fruits/veggies that you can take while you are working away from the onsite housing? The other possibility would you have a fridge in your room which you would have to stock up food from various grocery stores? These questions are regarding someone who might be pulling crude tankers or vacuum tankers.

Honestly, that is something that you need to talk to the prospective employer about. I would tend to believe that if they are providing you a dining facility, that they will probably also provide you food to eat for lunch. Although that does not guarantee you that the food that they serve is best. I would also tend to argue that if they are providing you a housing complex with a dining facility, civilization isn't close by if you know what I mean. Who is the employer?

Man camps are not to supply your every whim. Most will feed you on site. On well site or road you more then likely will be expected to feed yourself like everyone else. May be too late to the game anyway. Oil prices are falling sharply and if it continues there will be layoffs and slowdowns as there have always been. Those who act can make good money. Those who have to be led by the hand are normally late to the game and really probably aren't cut out for oil patch.

What's available really varies company to company. One of the partner companies here just set up a new man camp, I'll have to ask how those facilities are equipped. Most of the stuff here is retired company man trailers, which have full kitchens. If you're going with a specific company then many of those either expect you to get your own RV or will put you in a skid house at the rig site, but you frequently are on your own in between operations.

The frac company I work for provides food while you are there. They provide sandwiches, chips, cookies, fruits and veggies that if you choose can pack for lunch. It does get old real quick but some locations that we work do not cater food, so mancamp food it is. That is unless you want to spend money at the convenience store. We normally stop on our way to location.

I do not want to go down to Texas expecting one thing and getting something completely different. The idea of going with some reasonable expectations of what I may have to pay for is what I was wondering. Thank you .

The one man camp I've been in was really nice. It was a long building with rooms on either side and the middle was common area. They had a cafeteria with a buffet and you paid by the pound with one of their meal cards. They also had another section to make a bag lunch with bread, cold cuts and all sorts of other stuff and containers to put it in.

I can't remember the other place up in Canada that I delivered to. It was Fort something and the most amazing buffet I've ever seen in my life. They let me stay the night and eat there. I didn't want to leave!
